The Noble Who Changed the Meaning of These Three Words Forever

Post by Naga Tuma » 25 Feb 2021, 13:59

How dare you? When Greta Thunberg asked it.

I don't think that the word noble is easy to use, at least it wasn't used to be easy to invoke. It may have over time become a common, and then somewhat random, word to use. Some may even use it sarcastically.

If I can describe the character of a noble in one statement in a leader, for instance, he is one who seeks no nation to bow and wishes every nation to stand upright.

Don't call me a sexist using the contemporary lexicon. I grew up in a culture that Dan Brown referred to in his Da Vinci book in passant as something that used to be practiced in ancient Egypt. One of the things he mentions in the book is a sacred union.

It seems to me that many may be subconscious to that ancient culture. It also seems to me that it becomes as modern as it can be when that subconsciousness becomes alive. Take for example the argument that a woman should not drop her family's last name and take her husband's when they get married. When it comes to this argument, Hillary Clinton is virtuous.

On the other hand, that virtue has been carried on from an ancient time to this day, at least as much as I can understand about it. I feel like it is the culture that I grew up in.

At the same time, I can't deny the context in which boys and girls are looked at and brought up differently in the same culture. It felt like nature prepared them for their virtuous roles, which makes me think of the sacred union that was understood starting in ancient times. I am as open as I can be for the scientific future.

So, don't get me wrong that I am suggesting that Greta Thunberg was wrong to stand in front of so many men at that young age and ask them: How dare you? No, I wasn't culturally prepared to see and hear it come from the noble young girl. It changed for me the meaning of the expression forever.

I wanted to add one of her images at the following link as befitting to the question but I couldn't link the image at this time.
