A man caught by security officials in a restricted area at Manchester Airport https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... er-airport claimed he was trying to get a flight back to his home country.

Anday Koday, 31, was spotted in a no-go zone in January.

He was arrested and removed from the building, Manchester Magistrates' Court https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... ates-court heard.

A restraining order has since been passed, banning him from being at the airport for two years.

Koday, of no fixed address, originally from Eritrea, was handed a £100 fine, which was written off as he had spent two days in custody.

He pleaded guilty to
entering a security restricted area of an air navigation installation without permission of the manager or person in charge.
Prosecutor Nick Smart told the court that on January 18 at 7.05pm, police received a call from airport staff reporting a
possible breach of security.
An unknown male was located without authorisation in a part of the airport which members of the public do not have access to, namely Airfield and Stand 202, at Terminal 2,
Mr Smart said.
Police attended and he was arrested on suspicion of being an unauthorised presence in a security restricted area under Section 21C of The Aviation Security Act 1982.
Koray was said to have no previous convictions.

Defence lawyer John Mitchell said:
He has been in the UK since 2014 and does have indefinite leave status.
In recent months, he has become homeless.
He tells me he has no travel documents and he took the decision to enter the airport and go airside in an attempt to get on a plane back to Eritrea.
He is not in receipt of benefits or employment.
He wishes to return to Eritrea given the proper application and he would still be able to go to the airport provided he had the relevant documents, nothing has been imposed to stop him from going to Eritrea.
Sentencing him, JP Larry Collier told Koray he was being handed a £100 fine and £34 victim surcharge, but as he had been in custody, that 'satisfied' the court.
We are also passing a restraining order for two years, you are not to enter Manchester Airport or it’s curtilage,
Mr Collier said.
If you are, you commit an offence for which you can go to prison.

Because there is little likelihood you will obtain a passport or travel documents, if you want to return to the airport you must come back to court and ask for the restraining order to be lifted.

Biden ends Trump’s travel ban on Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan, others

Newly sworn-in American president, Joe Biden, on Wednesday, issued an executive order nullifying a travel ban imposed on citizens of some Muslim-majority countries by his predecessor, Donald Trump.

Before his exit from the White House on Wednesday, the Trump-led administration was notorious for its harsh policies against immigrants and asylum seekers, one of his many election campaign promises.

He tightened the policies amidst the coronavirus pandemic which rocked the globe, claiming his decision was to protect the American populace.

However, Joe Biden, immediately after his inauguration on Wednesday, issued a number of executive orders undoing some of the policies and projects of his predecessor.

President Biden has now nullified the entry ban on citizens from over a dozen countries, including Nigeria, Eritrea, Yemen, and Sudan.
There’s no time to waste. These are just all starting points,
he said before signing the 17 executive orders in the White House, a statement that connotes the possibility of many more to come.

Trump’s strict immigration policies have been condemned by leaders and civil groups in the past.

The American Civil Liberties Union, on Wednesday, lauded Biden’s decision berating his predecessor’s travel policy a
cruel Muslim ban that targeted Africans.
Against his predecessor’s plan to exit the World Health Organisation (WHO) by July 2021, Biden has also submitted a letter renewing the U.S.
commitment to funding the organisation and honoring the country’s policies on climate change.

Well written article. I must say, he has a sharp brain and pen. I don't always agree with Obbo Isayas, but agree on this. As the old saying goes, ''teach a man to fish...'' and you can finish the rest.
This maybe a reason why many imperialistic elites hate Obbo Isayas, seeing as how it'd be difficult, if not impossible, to exploit and control Africa if the African's were self sufficient, strong economically, etc.

Disagreements are ok & natural. Even amongst siblings in the same family huge disagreements can arise, let alone small ones.

What I disagree with you is the suspicion you harbour concerning Eritrea that the policies you disagree with it vis-a-vis Ethiopia, somehow emanate from a place of evil or malice or bad intentions. We harbour zero negativity towards Ethiopia as a Nation, & Ethiopians as a people.
