Mr. President, although many mock you incessantly and demean you in abstraction, I know behind the public persona and the ostentation is a human being who understands what it feels like to be maltreated. There are ghosts you are chasing for decades, the haunting specter of feeling unaccepted, the desperate need for validation because the one whom you looked up to the most refused to give it and the sorrow that comes with growing up in the shadows of giants who always saw you as a Lilliputian.
For too long, you sought hubris to deal with these wounds, today I ask you to choose compassion for the sake of Julian Assange and your own healing. I will admit, I have been a frequent critic your administration for the entirety of your stay in the White House. Yet for all your faults—on the 11th hour of your tenure—I have to give credit for some of the good you have accomplished. You might not have made America great again, but you made us aware of the corrosive nature of the debased (there is nothing elite about them) who plague the halls of power in DC, NYC and around the world.
Chief among your accomplishments is exposing the ugly face of fascism that is passed on to Americans and the world as a “representative democracy”. For all but the blinded and loyal partisans, most Americans now understand that Democrats and Republicans are a perverse duopoly who are colluding to further their power and fleece the proletariat. What the founders of America rebelled against has been reborn in ways that make King George look like a saint; we are being taxed without representation and being governed without consent....continued...
