By its own admission Sudan kept quiet during the Woyane era for geopolitical reasons. Al-Bashir was afraid to open another front and
it was at the same time a sign of his support to the TPLF.

Some background info about "Halaib Triangle"

The area, "Halaib Triangle", has been considered to be a part of the Sudan's Red Sea State, and was included in local elections until the late 1980s.

The Halaib Triangle is an area of land measuring 20,580 square kilometres (7,950 sq mi) located on the Northeast African coast of the Red Sea. The area, which takes its name from the town of Halaib, is created by the difference in the Egypt–Sudan border between the "political boundary" set in 1899 by the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium, which runs along the 22nd parallel north, and the "administrative boundary" set by the British in 1902, which gave administrative responsibility for an area of land north of the line to Sudan, which was an Anglo-Egyptian client at the time. With the independence of Sudan in 1956, both Egypt and the Sudan claimed sovereignty over the area. The area has been considered to be a part of the Sudan's Red Sea State, and was included in local elections until the late 1980s. In 1994 the Egyptian military moved to take control of the area as a part of Red Sea Governorate, and Egypt been actively investing in it since then. Egypt has been recently categorical in rejecting international arbitration or even political negotiations regarding the area.

The description of the area as a "triangle" is a rough approximation. Only the southern 290-kilometre (180 mi) demarcation, which follows latitude 22°, is a straight line. While the whole area is north of the 22-degree line, a smaller area south of latitude 22°, referred to as Bir Tawil, joins the Halaib Triangle at its westernmost point along the latitude line – neither Sudan nor Egypt claims Bir Tawil.

5.The Republic of the Sudan stresses that it does not recognize the Egyptian military presenceor any of the ways in which Egypt currently exercises sovereignty in the Hala’ib triangle. It deems that presence to be an illegal occupation. It rejects all of Egypt’s practices and acts of sovereignty in the Hala’ib triangle, whether land or at sea, and rejects all of the declarations made by Egypt in that regard. Nor will it recognize any rights assumed by a third party on the basis of any actions taken by the Arab Republic of Egypt in the context of the current occupation. In particular, the Government of the Republic of the Sudan demands that the Egyptian occupation authorities comply with the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and all of the rules of international humanitarian law. Egypt must refrain from changing the demographics of the land or its inhabitants, harming the Sudanese citizens living under occupation in the Hala’ib triangle or their property, and denying their fundamental rights, including the right to life, freedom of expression and freedom from torture, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance. The Republic of Sudan rejects the allegations contained in the declaration made by the Arab Republic of Egypt on 4 May 2017. It calls upon the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt to promptly resort to arbitration and resolve the crisis peacefully in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

This declaration was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan.

This is diversionary and fake news spread by Egypt and Sudan to divert their open and covert action on Ethiopia. The main target of Egypt and Sudan is Ethiopia and the control of the Ethiopian Nile waters.
As we speak, Sudan and Egyptian military and security forces are working together against the Ethiopia - Eritrea coalition forces. Many Egyptian security advisers are already in Sudan.
Several anti Ethiopia and Eritrea forces, including the remnants of the woyanie and some groups from Eritrea, Beneshangul and Gumuz with shady Jihadi connections have already contacted to the Sudanese and Egyptian General Intelligence Service or the Gihaz El Mukhabarat El ‘Amma, often referred to as the Mukhabarat.
The Egyptians have several plans on their cards that includes the elimination of both Abiy Ahmad and Issaias. You are warned. Ignore this at your own peril.
