Your understanding of ultimatum is very interesting. What was said is unless you give up the fight in the next 3 days...the army will intensify its offense. It is a human gesture by the PM to save the lives of those underage soldiers.
In any case....We will see what is to be in the next few days. Tplf was sure that it could walk back to menilik palace within weeks of igniting a war. What we see now is an operation for a little over a week and already 90% of Tigrai is under the federal army control. Fortified bunkers being demolished one after the other and Cities and towns receiving the Military so jubilantly.

There will no be negotiation. In fact, to be frank negotiation is not the province only Abiy to make. Several factors have to be considered. The Amhara young kids are dying right now hoping the TPLF demise. Ethiopians are demonstrating and expressing their support to the national army all over Ethiopia hoping the TPLF death. Ethiopians , who are poor, sending cattle to the army to show their appreciation to the national army, hoping the burial of TPLF the cancer of Ethiopian politics, is imminent.
Abiy is not going to sabotage practically the almost hundred percent of Ethiopians desire.

I concur to your one point.
I was skeptical of p2 General and Abiy's statement of claiming "destroying all missiles and rocket launchers" from the get go! That was scary claim!
They didn't have to be that overconfident; I guess they overestimated their knowledge and abilities However, I wasn't very disappointed by the outcome so far. The little hit & miss of rockets here & there is only a face saving for TPLF, nothing more. They're toast either way!
As a matter of fact, I feel embarrassed for Getcho/Dr. Debre 's overconfidence of their military hardware and so forth not to mention the moron Secuture? testifying the treasonous act TPLF did against EDF?
That & the reported "ethnic cleansing" shall take them straight to Haig!
I have to say I feel a little sorry for Dr. Debre getting in such stress. After all, he's a friend of Abiy! :~)
