Ethiopia Withdraws Thousands of Troops From Neighboring Somalia

...Their departure from Somalia comes as federal soldiers continue to battle forces loyal to the ruling party in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray. Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump told top advisers he’s also considering extracting U.S. troops from Somalia.

Ethiopia is redeploying about 3,000 troops to help with the Tigray offensive, the people said, asking not to be identified because they’re not authorized to speak to the media...

A spokesman for the Office of the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia referred all questions to Ethiopian authorities. Redwan Hussein, state foreign minister and spokesperson for the Emergency Task Force in charge of the conflict, did not respond to questions on Ethiopia’s bilateral troops with Somalia.

Meshrefet knows how much military loss he is facing in the hands of gallant Tigrean fighter. That is why he is withdrawing all Ethiopian peacekeepers from Somalia and Sudan. Tigray is like David, it will defeat qomiche invaders, Meshrefet army and wedimedhin army.

Fighting in the north must be more fierce than what's being reported. Hmmm.

According to your unreliable news source, Abiynesh and Isuu were preparing for this invasion long ago. And I thought it was started because of the alleged attack on federal troops.

Bloomberg is not a reliable news source..

Ethiopia government get a lot of money from the United Nations for sending troops, Peacekeeping soldiers are paid $1,410 per month by the UN, that's a lot of money and Ethiopia cannot afford to withdraw its peacekeeping troops from Somalia.

Ethiopia never saw that money coming in to the country's coffer. It all was going to the pockets of TPLF generals and the connected few. I remember a few years ago the peace keeping troops demonstrating in Addis requesting for their pay. Those troops were all murdered and no one troop ever asks that question again. Brink back our troops and no more conflict vultures!!
