I am not from that part of Ethiopia not even close. I have never been there even for a second at that part of Ethiopia. Tigray, Gondar Gojam for me it is merely a Geography subject I learned in my elementary class as a child.
Not long ago when I discuss the region's politics with my Eritrean friends, I just asked'em who they think of that WelQayit Tsegede belongs to assuming that they are neutral, not Amhara nor Tigraway.
They unanimously answered, "it belongs to Tigray and went onto say they( Tigraways) do not pose baseless claims unless they truly know the region is historically inside Tigray province".
Well, be that as it may, the fact is that these two people (Amhara/Tigraway) are the same people and close cousins but now they are talking as if two different nations claiming victory and waving flags of their respective Killil on the same soil on which they lived together for thousand years.
What Africans mentality what a waste!

Wolqait/Tsegede should be under Tigray. It is the amhara who are saying it is their land or territory. But there is evidence Wolqit-Tsegede was taken from Tigray to weaken Tigray because the central government feared Tigray may oppose them if economically strong, which is not true. Tigrayans get armed and fight if injustice has be done on them.
It is wise to get the lands and villages that belong to Tigray to put them back under Tigray administration because do no care about Tigray language and culture. Amharas living in Wolqait mispronounce villages with Tigray names. I mean this should be stopped by promoting Tigray language and culture. The Amhara migrated from South Ethiopia as the result of the Oromo migration to Ethiopia in 1530 and the war of Ottoman Turkey against Christian Ethiopia. The Amhara are egoist and greedy. They calim history and land that does not belong to them, as the result of which Oromos and Somalis have become strong.

Then, you bring your case based on history, evolution in the use of languages, and How people identify themselves, and you sit down and settle these questions peacefully. What the fascist TPLF did was grabbing these pieces of territories through ethnic cleansing- social engineering.
By the way, the proximity of the language in the name of these places alone can not be taken as legitimate factors. Otherwise, the boundarIes of the entire countries of the world need to be redrawn.

It is already concluded. No time to waste. Welqait is in its entirety an Amhara territory. Both Amharic and Tigringa used Geez words. Even the proper Tigray province itself was originally Amhara. Amhara moved the Abyssinian Kingdom southwards because Tigray, Axum, was unable to support and provide ecologically for their kingdom. The fool TPLF's are trying to fool other. No more no less, Weqiat is Amhara and it will remain so forever. TPLF's can bang their heads against the wall. Now, it is a nail biter for loser woyane like Thomas. This should not be anymore a topic of discussion. Period.

The TPLF leadership that ruled the central government of Ethiopia showed nothing but greed and nepotism during its reign and inflicted a psychological trauma on a larger number of Ethiopian society.
However, when it comes to the issue of Wolqayit, well my fear is to say that Amharas are making a wrong claim. It is not only in Tigray but also in many parts of the country Amharas had changed names of town, villages and cities as it suits them. Amharas are people who had moved in mass to every part of the country and who have been making a living in every hole of Ethiopia than any other Ethiopian community.
Their spread across the country in combination with being on the throne for a very long time gave them the opportunity to dictate over everything unscrutinized. Perhaps WolQyit issue also could be the same thing I think, .

Who is this EPRDF? I am just wondering why he has not changed his name even at this time. EPRDF was dead way 2 years ago. Prince Mengesha Seyoum says Wolqait/Tsegede was under Tigray if you ask him privately. He is a politician and can hide the truth not to make the Amharas angry. But there are other evidences that Wolqait/Tseged has been under Tigray. The Amhara cannot have villages with Tigrigna names. The Amhara should stop claiming land and history that does not belong to them. The Amhara are migrants from Southern Africa and West Africa. They are bantu Africans (majority of them). Some of them are Tigrayans. If you study the psychosocial profile of Amharas, one will find that they are expansionists and claim every place they go to as belonging to Amhara ( Hule Amaresh - we call them). The Amhara should correct this bad mentality and not claim land that has not been under their administration. Otherwise, people will have to take other measures. Amharas could beforced to leave the areas they are occupying now as we want peace and justice to prevail in Ethiopia.
