TPLF officials are fleeing Mekele

TPLF officials are fleeing Mekele for their traditional power base of Adwa-Axum. The plan to defend Mekele has been scrapped because TPLF officials do not think the locals will put up stiff resistance due to the fact that Mekele citizens tend to side with a united Ethiopia concept, whereas Northern Tigrayans, who make up the power of TPLF, side with independence. This real schism between Northern and Southern Tigrayans is the reason why Federal Forces are attempting to split Tigray in half by attacking its center.
