Ethiopian military is controlling Tigray, except for Adwa & Mekele. Reports indicate, the TPLF is divided into two. Its Forces are disarming, leaving their arms everywhere & burning their uniforms to blend. 2 TPLF generals, in custody. Meles Zenawi’s military, proven to be a sham.

SM H.E. Amb. Redwan Hussien, briefed on Friday resident diplomats in Addis Ababa about the current government operation in Tigray. The ambassador emphasized that the Federal Government of Ethiopia wants to meet three objectives in the operation. Refer to the statements attached.

Can someone pls explain to me - seriously - why people are talking about a "civil war" breaking out b/w Ethiopia and TPLF? 95% of Ethiopian people + all sovereign state neighbors working in concert to contain the threat posed by 1 intransigent rebel group ≠ a civil war.

We also need to stop talking about the TPLF Tigray seceding from Ethiopia. The AU won't recognize a new breakaway state. Tigray would be stranded & dependent on hostile neighbors. Silly, as if Alabama were to suddenly say it just won't be part of USA anymore. Where's it gonna go?

Also wish that my fellow international analysts were doing more to call out the sheer irresponsibility of holding "an election-like event" in the middle of a global pandemic, just so the TPLF can prove it still knows how to rig 98% of a vote.

US Department of State has indicated its concern over unprovoked TPLF attack on Ethiopia military forces. Why should the TPLF be instantly rewarded with a bigger seat, at the negotiating table? What a terrible precedent to establish for insurgent groups in other nations.

Last time, the Media organisations & Western Nations when supporting the TPLF used the excuse of- they were dealing with the Government of Ethiopia with 100+Million population & pivotal state to fighting terrorism & poverty. What is their excuse for supporting the TPLF & not the Government, now?
