I think it all depends how Abiy Ahmed stands out and differentiate himself from the TPLF. In terms of principle and mission, I don't see any difference between him and TPLF - let's be honest. No change in the tribal federation and illegal dedebit constitution, no stop in ethnic cleansing, corruption etc. Will TPLF win , if any war breaks? No, not at all. This leeche weyane cadres purposely ignored the fact on the ground and awful situation that is coming toward to Tigray region. All this empty bravado on social media by the weyane cadres will not solve any hardship for Tigryan civilians instead, expedite death and destruction. Weyannes, and their paid Cadres are already defeated politically and lost the war long time ago. The remaining part is just deep cleaning.

Well, what do you suggest Abiy do, then? Go to war against one of his regions, and risk an almost assured mutually destructive conflict?
Tigray is not only heavily armed, but the tplf has its populace behind it, and has them in a ''siege'' type of mentality, in which they feel that they have enemies surrounding them, amara and eplf for example, not us oromos.
abiy has already lost much of his support in oromia, as well, for his mishandling of the transition, our issue with him has nothing to do with the tplf. that's another subject entirely.
there is no easy way to handle the issue in tigray, and the countless other problems within ethiopia. it seems that, unfortunately, ethiopia always finds itself in these tough situations, situations in which there are many, many conflicts, issues, etc, then you combine the interests of external players within ehtiopia, i.e. shabia, sudan, egypt, the white man [usa, uk, and others], and the interests of internal players- oromo nationalists, amara nationalists, tigrayan nationalists, amara-elites who wish to go back to the feudal empire, the oromo and others who wish to improve upon federalism-i.e. welayta who wants their own kilil.
I am not the biggest fan of abiy, but honestly, cannot blame him entirely, man, governing ethiopia is like juggling hot coals. ethiopia is a very complex country!

This simply gives them more chips when they sit at the negotiations table and cuts the chips Abiy has. I see this because I think that area is increasingly becoming internationalized. By that I mean local actors start acting as sovereign entity independent of central government. Actually, we already see this.

Also Isayas may lose interest in Abiy if Abiy doesn't have real power within his jurisdiction, including Ethiopian territories around Eritrea - Ethiopia border. This is good outcome from TPLF perspective.

Just one opinion. We come back to see if any of this makes sense. Give it time. Don't be so quick to dismiss
