The “Exorcist” Opens His Big Mouth Again! December 30, 2015

By Engidu Woldie,

Surprises keep coming from the gang of criminals in Addis Ababa and they will never end soon considering the behavior of the new TPLF spokesperson in town, a big mouthed thug by the name Getachew Reda.

We all recall that the communication minister, a.k.a. the spokesperson for the minority regime in his remarks at his inaugural press conference called the great people of Oromo, who came out in defense of their rights and in defiance of the quarter century status quo of repression and marginalization, the “demons.”

The chatter box who never mince his words, also vowed that his government would “exorcise” the “demons” out of the people of Oromia, who simply say no to the encroachment of their farmlands and natural environment by the regime under the guise of “integrated development,” a euphemism in Ethiopia for taking away your land and make you a homeless; or a guard or janitor at best, for the so called development projects and buildings owned by the TPLF Tigrayans.

The communication minister, a.k.a. the “exorcist” (I would like to ask everyone to allow me to bestow upon him this “coveted” title for calling the people of Oromia who challenged tyranny “demons” and also for the determination of his government as well as his leading role in “exorcising” the “demons” out of the people) appeared on a weekly Television talk show “Meet EBC” (yeah, you know, “Meet the Press,”) where English speaking TPLF Tigrayans and their cronies come to show off their English speaking skills or lack thereof.

Here are some interesting remarks by the master exorcist:

“I DON’T THINK the people of Oromia were particularly alarmed by the prospect of Addis Ababa engulfing the Oromia zones in its surrounding.”

“Those legitimate protests were vociferously expressed in public and the government is FULLY COMFORTABLE.”

“99.9% of the Oromos did not take part in the protest. Only few gangs from political parties at home and abroad.”

“I believe SOME lives are lost.”

“ARMED gangs were TERRORIZING people.” Etc, etc

In the meantime no question or challenge by the interviewer about the elementary school kids, pregnant women and peaceful protesters – who simply carry sticks as a cultural show of defiance – and who were shot and killed execution style by TPLF killing squads.

Paranoid Tigrians Accuses Eritrea of Starting the Oromo Protests
February 26, 2016

By TesfaNews,

Ethiopia accused arch-rival Eritrea on Thursday of being behind anti-government protests in the Oromia region last year which led to a violent clampdown by the government in Addis Ababa.

The Ethiopian government, however, has a reputation to routinely accuse Eritrea anytime it wanted to divert international attention from its domestic problems or as an attempt to cover up its own record of crimes up on the Ethiopian people.

At a press conference held in the capital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s communication minister and government spokesman, Getachew Reda, said Eritrea has continued to deploy armed groups and bandits as part of its long standing position to destabilize his country.

All armed groups, he said, are being deployed to Ethiopia by Eritrea using some Ethiopian rebels or other armed groups the Red Sea nation harbors.

“We have concrete evidence that some of the people… involved and instigating violence in these particular localities… have their origins from Asmara,” the capital of Eritrea, said Getachew Reda.

Home to some 27 million people, Oromia encircles Addis Ababa and stretches over large parts of the rest of the country. It has its own language, Oromo, distinct from Amharic, the language of Ethiopia’s government.

Demonstrations erupted last November in Oromia to protest against a government plan to expand the capital city Addis Ababa.

The so-called Master Plan, which was eventually abandoned in January, fuelled land-grab fears among Oromo farmers, from the country’s biggest ethnic group.

Reda accused Eritrea of working in concert with two Ethiopian movements, the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) rebel group and the Ginbot 7 opposition group exiled in the United States.

“The Eritrean government is not only working with OLF’s leftovers in Asmara but also with Ginbot 7, and they want to infiltrate all troublemakers into Ethiopia,” Reda said.

He added: “The protests that were being expressed by the people were based on legitimate concerns. But at a certain point, there were political elements involved in hijacking the process.

Ethiopia Declares State of Emergency Amid Prime Minister Resignation
February 16, 2018

“TPLF should declare a state of emergency only if it wants one result: the immediate overthrow of the regime!” – Jawar Mohammed

BY ADDIS STANDARD

The Council of ministers is set to declare a state of emergency for three months as of this morning, a source close to the government told Addis Standard. The military will be in charge via a command post, which will be “reporting to the Prime Minister,” according to our source.

The move follows yesterday’s resignation of Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn both as Prime Minister, Chairman of EPRDF and his own party, the Southern Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM).

Initially, there was a “strong push” against the decision from members of two of the parties that make up the EPRDF: the Oromo Peoples’ Democratic Organization (OPDO) and the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM), the two parties that govern Oromia and Amhara regional states, according to our source.

However, “the state of emergency will be declared this morning as the security situation in the country is getting volatile,” said the source.

Details of parts of the civilian constitution to be suspended will be announced at the end of the ministerial council’s meeting, but it is likely to be not much different than the October 2016 nine-month state of emergency, which was extended by additional four months.

The “government will submit the decision to national parliament within the next 15 days,” our source said, adding the delay to table the decision to the parliament was because the parliament is currently in mid-term recess.

The state of emergency is to be declared amidst increasing power struggle, especially between the OPDO and ANDM, to replace the outgoing Prime Minister.

Abiy Ahmed from Oromo Elected EPRDF Chairman
March 27, 2018

thiopia’s ruling coalition has elected Abiy Ahmed as its new chairman, according to state media. The announcement on Tuesday by state broadcaster FANA means that Ahmed, who hails from the Oromo ethnic group, is now expected to succeed Hailemariam Desalegn as Ethiopia’s prime minister.

The chairman of the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) coalition has historically also taken on prime minister duties.

The EPRDF and its allies control all 547 seats in Ethiopia’s parliament, which must confirm the new prime minister.

Ruling coalition

In a surprise move on February 15, Hailemariam announced that he was stepping down as both prime minister and chairman of the EPRDF.

He said at the time that he would be staying on as prime minister in a caretaker capacity until the EPRDF named a successor.

Local news site Addis Standard reported on Tuesday that Ahmed garnered 108 out of 180 votes in a meeting by the EPRDF’s Council, which comprises 45 members each from the four political parties that make up the coalition.

Mainly divided along ethnic lines, the parties are: the Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM), the Oromo Peoples’ Democratic Organisation (OPDO) and the Southern Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM).
