And you guessed it right: Mekele will get limitless supply of fresh water; Mekele will have vast terrains for resort hotels, parks and amphitheaters. And it is coming very soon.
The Government of Tigray and China are covering the cost.
And the lucrative fishing business that will be extant around the lakes will enrich many people and the citizens of Mekele and many parts of Tigray will eat fish at least as much as they wish

The whole Alaesa hills must be covered by trees in order water production to increase. It sad very close to Mekelle few miles yet the Mekelle residents could not cover the area by green trees in order to increase rain and get more flood water to fill Gereb Giba dam. Debretsion should order all youths to plant trees from Alaesa where the Dam is built to Gerealta hills and Awlaelo hills where the flood originated. Dummy dummy people???
I know the area very well inch by inch and walked them through many times, flood is not that big but that is the only option they have. If compare it Tank river cuts half of Abiy Adi city is 500 times bigger than Giba river yet Tank is wasted and very simple to dam it because it is naturally tall concrete erected left and right and very narrow over 50 miles from Degua Tembien to Abiy Adi Minchi and there is bottle neck narrow about 12 feet to dam it and Abiy Adi could have been water city and to the right or north of the city there is another river called Shegalu has equal water to Giba river and both shegalu and Tank rivers are right at the middle of Abiy Adi city. Woyane made huge mistakes, the capital city of Tigray should have been Abiy Adi than Mekelle due to water availability. King Yohannes requested the residence to make his capital city in Abiy Adi but the residents refused due to privacy which was wrong by the residents of Abiy Adi. Raesi Alula told King Yohannes to build in Mekelle a farming area at the time and built their capital city there and Enderta moved from Hitalo to Mekelle city as Enderta capital. Mekelle was founded by Raesi Alula and King Yohannes, Mekelle never been a city prior King Yohannes became a king of the country.
