I consider the discrepancy on the biography read by Shiferaw Shigute at the parliament regarding Dr. Abiy unacceptable/wrong and should be looked at as a Resume padding. The padding must have been done for purpose of qualifying for past jobs descriptions.
Resume padding means adding false or exaggerated information to your resume to enhance your credentials for a job. Despite the fact that resume padding often goes unnoticed, hiring managers report catching job candidates lying on their resumes here in the US. In many cases they hire the candidate anyway because they're qualified. So, that is the unacceptable "crime: committed by Dr. Abiy.
It is unfair to take away the overall accomplishment of the candidate. Abebe has done a thorough investigation, was aware of the discrepancy in dates and let it pass; because he found the overall accomplishments as accurate. That was the bottom line!
