Decentralized Elite-Schools instead of a centralized Technology Park

Post by DefendTheTruth » 12 Oct 2020, 14:46

There are pros and cons to federalism and self-rule, among which is also the demand that available resources should be distributed to the members or stakeholders of the enterprise.

Is this a kind of

ድር ብያብር አንበሳ ያስር

or

ሃምሳ ሎሚ ለአንድ ሰው ሸክም፣ ለአምሳ ሰው ጌጥ

the choice is yours.

But in my view instead of building 7 privileged facilities, kind of Elite Schools, for the regional state of Oromia alone it could have been more competitive at the international level if they have built just 1 more advanced facility that is on an international standard.

On one hand there is an attempt to bring the schools to the peripheries, finally, which is good but still in order to accomplish that, the resources have to be redistributed and the much needed competitive edge on the global scale of the faciltiy would be missed.

It is still not what I was envisaging in the year 2014 and called a sort of "Technology Park". I think this is simply the side effect of Federalism, which is making itself recognizable even within the same regional state.

What I had in mind, as a kind of wishful thinking, or call it whatever you may like, is a kind of Science Park, which can nurture to the scientific need of the country in the future, a world class institution where science and technology can be fostered. It has to be equipped with the necessary tools to be able to compete with the rest of the world. What I had also in my mind was about mobilizing the nation to transform itself, without excluding any one. I said it should be a treasure of the nation, which both symbolically and in practice can reflect the beautiful nature of our national identity that can also mend the “broken bridge” that Silvan was talking about.
