ይቺ ልጅ ብዙ ታሪክና ቋንቋ አታቅም ። ግን አንድ እጅግ አስገራሚ ነገር አለ ። አሬቻ የምትለው ቃል እንዳለ መስቀል እንደ ሆነ አታቅም ። ቃሉም የሴም ቃል እንደ ሆነ አታቅም። የሸዋ ገላን፣ ያያ ፣ ላሊጌዎች ኦሮሞ ከሆኑ በኋላ መስቀልን የሚያከብሩት እሬቻ (ምርቃት) ብለው እንደ ሆነ በጥናት የምታቀው ነገር የለም ። ግን ዝም ብሎ ከጉራጌ ቤተ ሰቧ ባገኘቸው ባህል ተነስታ ብቻ የነገሩን ትክክለኛ ይዘት ማወቋ አስገራሚ ነው። በጣም ትክክል ነች ። ኧሬቻ (ኧሪቃ) የሸዋ ኦሮሞች በመስቀል ቀን የሚያከብሩት መስቀል ነበር ። አሁን የባህሉን ስር ማያቁ ደንቆሮ ፖለቲከኞች የፖለቲካና የጥላቻ ፎሌ መርገጫ ቀን አድርገውታል ። ይህቺ ልጅ ይህን ሁሉ ሳታቅ ይህን ያህል መናገሯ አስገረመኝ !!!

The late Tsegaye Gebremedhin has written extensively about Irreechaa. If I recall correctly, Irreechaa, Waaqayyo, the celebration around Odaa tree, the grass and water are all related to the same origin: Ateete the Oromo woman godess. She is believed to be the daughter of Ora who raised from death to celebrate the reconciliation with his murderer. Ateete then planted a tree to symbolize Him and his association with peace. The Oromos venerate her as a symbol of fertility and that appears to be the case why oromo women pay more significannce to the ceremony and strongly adhere to it. Also, the reconciliation culture during Irreechaa appears to be rooted to Ora.

It's also my understanding that the Ateete and Irreechaa culture spread North and got mixed with christianity and Islamic traditions, not the other way around. The culture of the Shoa Oromo is therefore a byproduct of orthodox christianity and pre-christian indeginous beliefs. Amharas likewise have adopted many of the Oromo indeginous beliefs, including Ateete, zar, Qaallicha, Maaram, tchelee, etc. In fact, one should question why Irreechaa and Mesqel occur at the same time. Do the Irreechaa trees and Mesqel bonfire have anything to do with each other? We are more interwined than what many think.
