Contribution to augment Martyrs Trust Fund

Asmara, 28 September 2020 – Nationals inside and outside the country contributed financial support to augment the Martyrs Trust Fund, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, as well as Eritrean Embassies to the US and Italy, reported.

Accordingly, the national holidays coordinating committee in the US contributed 9 thousand USD, assuming the responsibility to support three families of the martyrs for two years Blue Import Export contributed an annual payment of 36 thousand Nakfa, and families of the late Gebrehiwet Haile Sequar contributed 20 thousand Nakfa.

Similarly, a number of nationals residing in Italian cities of Rome, Abruzzi, Catania, Firenze, Bari, Napoli, Pisa, Milan, Bologna, Goneva, Brescia, Parma, Verona, and Torino contributed a total of 27 thousand Euros.

Furthermore, in connection with 20 June, Martyrs Day, Eritrean women in Milan clustered under “Hilina” association paid 6 thousand Euros, assuming the responsibility of supporting 10 families of martyrs. The Eritrean women, have been assuming the responsibility of supporting 10 families per year for the last 7 years.

Gerset Dam in the Gash Barka region of Eritrea, currently holds 25 million cu.m of water. Established in 2000, the livestock resources department at the 'Gerset Integrated Farm' breeds thousands of camels, sheep, goat and cattle.

The 12.5 Km long road being built is, from Biet Gergish to the Keren road at the environs of Embaderho via Adi Nefas and Beleza. BTW, this is the Northern section of the Asmara Ring Road. The Southern part has been initiated connecting ዓዲ ጓዕዳድ, via መርሓኖ, parts of ጸሎት፡ መናፈሲ ሰማእታት፡ (Martyrs' Park), joining the Northern section near the Church of ቅዱስ ጊዮርጊስ።

In the early years of independence (1991), only 4,000 Km of the roads in Eritrea were asphalted. In 2017, it shows a tremendous increase to 14,000 Km. This newly built ring road eases the traffic burden coming into Asmara as it directs commuters to and from Massawa to join the road to Keren via Beleza - Adi Nefas without crossing the capital city.
