In addition to the ethnic dimension, there is also a religious one. Ethiopia has long been able to be known for its tolerant coexistence and for the coexistence of Christians and Muslims. Prince Asfa-Wossen Asserate confirms: “Until twenty years ago there was peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims. Then the then Prime Minister Meles Zenawi allowed about 20 Wahhabi teachers to come to Ethiopia. Up until then, 99 percent of Ethiopian Muslims were Sufis. We had the last religious war in Ethiopia in 1541, since then it has been mostly peaceful. When the Wahhabis came from Saudi Arabia, they radicalized many Ethiopian Muslims, especially among the youth. Meles Zenawi noticed this and launched an anti-Wahhabi fight - but by then it was too late. "
