Because the implementation is so fast. They announced it on monday and two days later it is happening. That is fast, too fast for all the looters

before a year or so I visited Ethiopia and forgot in my pocket that i had over a 1000 Birr which is still with me.
Does that mean that I am going to lose this money?
It's about 30 $ or so, according to current rate. I am not planning to visit Ethiopia in the next 3 or so months.

Why do you now worry about a money that you forgot about its existence? Boil it and see what happens.

Selam,
i think that I will not be much richer or even poorer for the amount of 30 $, so that shouldn't be a big worry.
I am also aware that if this money would be in Ethiopia, then it could have bought someone something, so isn't it better to put it where it can make some minure difference instead of throwing it away or boiling it like you suggest?
I also think that there could be many more people like me who might be in the same sitation (have got some "left-over" money in their pockets).
So, if those people in the same situation may agree, then we could probably collect and send it to a certain charity in the country, they could make use of it.

If you're that serious and empathic, mail it to one of the fostercares in Addis or drive to Dulles and give it to a random traveler. Any third option?
