Ethiopia's mass media broadcasts Amhara culture. The New Year is celeberated everywhere in Ethiopia, but what we see in Ethiopia's TV is only how they eat, drink and dance in Amhara culture. The songs are in Amharic and those who are non-Amhara, specially young children do not know what is going on. They have to figure it out. 90% of the population does not speak Amharic and are automatically excluded from an event that would define their life. Celebrating New Year is such an event, specially for growing young adults.

Ethiopia's media is littered with worthless Amhara culture. It is high time to clean it and replace it with various cultures in the country. Tigrigna music and culture should be broadcasted in Ethiopia's TV and Radio. Further the beautiful Oromo culture should get coverage in Ethiopia's TV and Radio for all people to enjoy. The beautiful Somali music should also be broadcast on Ethiopia's TV.

In general Amharic culture , music and language programmes should only be given 20% of the air time of Ethiopia's TV and Radio. The print media should also use Geez, Tigrigna, Oromo, Somali languages.
This way we create a united Ethiopia where every ethnic group's culture is celebrated and accepted.

20% አማርኛ ብቻ ያልከው የጥላቻ ነው። በተለይ የከተማ ሰው ቢያንስ 80% አማርኛ ይናገራል ወይም ይሰማል። መንግስት ለሁሉም ለመድረስ አማራኛ መሆኑ ትክክል ነው።

ጥያቄ ኣለኝ።
በየክልሉ ያሉ ሚዲያዎች ሬዲዮና ቲቪ በዓሉን አላከበሩትም? በትግራይ ቲቭ? በአስመራ ቲቪ? በደቡብ? በሶማሊና ኣፋር ክልል አዲስ አመት ብለው ኣክብራዋል? ካላከበሩ ለምን? በዓሉን ካላከበሩ፤ ለማያከበሩ ለምን በቋንቋቸው አልሆነም ማለት ነገር ፍለጋ ኣይሆንም?

ቢያንስ 20%ቱ ክልል ላልተሰጣቸውና ሬድዮና ቲቪ ለሌላቸው ህዝቦች እንዲሰጥ። ኢትይጵያ የ80 ብሄሮች አገር ናት ። በራሳቸው ተሳታፊነት፤ በሚስማማቸው መንገድ ተጠቃሚ እንዲሆኑ። ለምሳሌ መጽፍና ማንበብ እንዲስፋፋ፤ ዘፈንና የዘፈን መሳሪያ የሚያስተምሩበት ክፍለ ጊዜ ወዘተ እንደፊላጎታቸው እንዲጠቀሙ ይደረግ።

Ethiopia TV and radio air time should be given to all ethnic groups.
The journalists should be from all ethnic groups.
The ethnic groups have their own media but so does Amhara have their own media.
Thus amhara have advantage in dominating Ethiopia at federal and regional level. Ethiopia media is dominated by Amhara culture. Ethiopia is not Amhara. Ethiopia is diverse and it's media should reflects this diversity as good as possible. You cannot present about Oromo dance and music in Amharic as the Oromos sing in their own tongue.

Ethiopia media should not only serve Amhara. No one cares about Amhara, no one hates them. They are seen as primitive folks who are suppressing others and live at the cost of other non-Amhara Ethiopians.

Th majority of Ethiopians do not speak Amharic. The majority speak their own mother tongue. Even in Addis Ababa, many speak Oromo and Amharic. In most towns, the people speak their own mother tongue. As schooling is in Amharic, one could say many speak Amharic, but not the majority of Ethiopia's population. Urban population is about 5-10% of the population.

Music from Somali, Oromo, Sidama, Afar, Tigrigna etc has more colour than the monotonic Amhara music. Ethiopia TV should play films and theatres from non-Amhara Ethiopians. In short, Ethiopia's media should serve all ethnic groups. This is also good for Amhara as people feel their home country is Ethiopia and do not feel as second rate citizens. All federal media out lets should broadcast in all major languages in the country. We need also to use English as a common language for international business and economic development.

We have to be multilingual to continue as a country. Ethiopia's media should not use only Amharic, but also Tigrigna, Oromo, Somali, Sidama and other languages. In the past, every one used Amharic to promote unity. But the result now is a weak Ethiopia fighting for it's survival as a country. By making Ethiopia multilingual officially, we promote equality and unity. We give foreign powers little change to pit our ethnic groups against each other because we are equal and have the same privileges as every other ethnic .

Amhara stole and borrowed most of the culture now. They have developed it to have a distinct custom, core values and attitudes.

For example, the amhara dance and music is different from others. Most of the music tone mighthave taken from Saint Yared's church melodies. But the way the amhara dance quite different. It is like Bantu dance.

The Amharic language is also different from Tigrgna and similar to Geez. Amharic has a negative way of addressing non-amhara Ethiopians. It is insulting usually. The amahara would say non-Amhara Ethiopians as aremeni, meaning savage \Somali and Oromo are aremeni, meaning beasts according Amharic language).

It is this culture of negativism that we want to be stopped. By making Ethiopia we reduce the effect of Amharic on non-Amhara Ethiopians. Otherwise the struggle will continue as no one would his children insulted and their future blocked.

ጥላቻህ ከማንም በላይ የጎዳው ራስህን ነው። ለዘላለም ካንተ ጋር ይኖራል።
