It seems that Seyoum Teshoma chewed overdose that cursed plant in Ethiopia (Chat) before giving this interview.
I tried to listen to his view points but failed to figure out what his message is, except his usual too many outbrusts (ድንፋታ) ። If you have a point, then tell it cool headed and wisely like a level-headed man, your ድንፋታ will not impress many, if any.
That kind of ድንፋታ didn't spare Jaanjoo Mohammed from facing his final destiney in the Ethiopian ማረሚያ ቤቶች finally.
One point he raised is that yes a country can't be dismembered due to individuals before those individuals got dismembered themselves, but issues can dismember a country if they are based on a well founded claims and we have to face the issues and sort them out before they can reach to the level of dismembering our country unnecessarily.
In this regard there are well founded issues that the Oromo people has been raising for a longtime and they are not unfounded or undeserved in the eyes of many observers.
- The issue of people who were pushed away from their ancestoral lands to make a space for those who came in and started building over the freed up spaces and this is specially acute in and around the capital city of the country. No one, including Seyoum Teshome in this interview denied about the injustice those people faced in their own country. This should be addressed, if we care about our country (and its people).
- The issue of making Afan Oromo an additional official working language in the country, this issue persists across all social, political, religious and other groupings and the people are demanding to get their inalienable rights in their own homeland, as this people is the largest chunk of the Ethiopian population.
Today's party can go and another may come in but these two issues will stay here and for ever until they are duly adressed and resolved before causing another round of distractions and disharmony betweent the people, unnecessarily once again.
I didn't have the chnace to listen to the said report by a political party with regard to the alleged landgrabbing by some parties but read to the response Engineer Takele Uma posted on his FB page and his message is clear there:
He didn't deny that his administration tried to compensate (adress) those who were pushed out and facing a miserable life after they lost the basis of their existence to the advent of capitalism in our country coupled with a high level corruption, see the following video, for example.
If that (what Engineer Takele's administration did) is somehow found to be unlawful, then those who are responsible should be prosecuted according to the law of the land. I don't think Engineer Takele Uma has deserved to be so character assassinated by all people who are good at criticisizing but not so good in solving proplems.
Even if he might have had some short comings with regard tot he land issue in the city, still he has done many more marvelous achievements for the well-being of the city and also its neighboring towns, on a win-win basis. Those achievements are out in the open and no one can take that from him.
The right-wing politicians in the country has now turned to everybody who is Oromo, it seems, including the PM, Engineer Takele Uma, Prof. Merera Gudina, Obbo Shimales Abdissa, all who are trying their best to protect the interest of United Ethiopia and if they are still getting so alienated then whom are the right wing going to support in Oromia, perhaps Jawar Mohammed?
PS:, sorry, forgot to add that I just listened to half of the almost 1 hrs, long interview. I found it very much repeatitive and as such sort of boring. The guy should learn about how to present his views concisely and to the point to get his message across, people don't have time to sit around and listen to all kinds of what is being said from all corners.
