A bad move by the US . Ethiopia should welcome mediators, US being one out of many, but should not let a decision to be dictated to her by any country. Poor Ethiopians bankrolled for the dam to be constructed because they envision a better future to their country when the dam is completed.
To the Trump administration which is fond of the Egyptian president, and the interest of Israel above all might have chosen to back up Egypt to solidify the friendship of Israel and Egypt, the only prominent Arab country which Israel considers a friend. The Trump administration chose to solidify the friendship of Egypt and Israel by sabotaging the interest of 100 million Ethiopians.
The Ethiopian government should boldly says Ethiopia will never be hostage to US “Assistances.” We welcome impartial mediators, but not dictated by any earthly power how we use our river.

This is classic stupidity of the Trumpian class!! Guess what $130 million is probably what the global Ethiopian diaspora sends home in a given day!!! This is a blessing in disguise for Ethiopians. Abiy must eradicate its ethnic federalism and make a national call to its citizens to rise as one people. America has always stubbed Ethiopia on the back at every turn our challenging time - go back and check beginning the time Menelik II, the league of nations, etc. Ethiopians need these kinds of external enemies to unite internally. This is God sent !!! The diaspora's annual remittance is now at 4 to 5 billion!!! $130 million US aid, you do the math!!!!!

To be honest, Ethiopia has to stop receiving financial aid from the western world including the U.S. Aid and Alms are source of poverty, destitution and political marginalization. We all know there are more poor people in the Western world than Ethiopia, but the western world earmark for financial aid to the developing countries like Ethiopia, it is not because they are sincerely concerned about their impoverished living situation rather is to force them do what they wanted them politically. In other words, the western world does not want country like Ethiopia developing. Perpetuating poverty in the developing world is the effective way keeping them submissive indefinitely. Ethiopia does not need being a bondage to aid. Our problem is not financial rather is the Tigre woyane and the Jihadist barbaric Gala. If these uncivilized and mercenary forces are taken out, Ethiopian all over the world could raise the required financial resource just in one day. May God punish woayne and the barbaric Islamist Gala.

Why or how is this "GOOD NEWS" agame C beyond aka agame sister Almaze? Do you know that this is also going to affect your home Tigray aka the least important Killil whose survival depends on the welfare handout from the Federal government ??? We know the low IQ Dedebit cadres like C beyond and Tarik Hatela can not see beyond their noses but I have tried to open their evil eyes anyways ..

Make a bond offer to Ethiopians living abroad, who going to support it 100%. Over 80% of the physical construction is over and 75% of the technical construction is done, so are Americans are expecting Ethiopia to fold back from seeing this National project though because America holding back 130 Mil? However, Ethiopia needs to play it cool. Keep on building support in Congressional Black Caucus. Give a clear picture of what Trump's State Department is doing in concert with Egypt . But Ethiopia has to continue to negotate but never give in to any and all presuress from any corner. Ethiopia need to speed up the construction without much noise . Let the construction speak for it self. Changing the reality on the ground will give Ethiopia a better postion to negoatiate . Being a Coy has its own rewards.

if Trump gets defeated in November, this whole thing will be a thing of the past.

The Abiy administration should work hard to get support from congress. The House of Representatives controls the money. That is not to get the assistance per se. It is to remind congress the assistance is always a string attached to it. For the peace US craves in the region, Ethiopian soldiers lost their lives in Somalia. US supported the Ethiopian military in logistics and security because it wanted the region to not be a hotbed for radicals who might export their fanaticism to the US.
Well, there is another story — an important one — an election is coming to US pretty soon.

Seriously, thought, this might backfire on the Trump Administration if all the "sh!thole" countries respond by sympathizing with Ethiopia and her right to use the Nile to alleviate poverty.
