while oromo elites are leading the youth in disarray and destroying their region, Somali region is using its new found autonomy to develop the region to now become one of the stable and developing regions in Ethiopia. Somali region elites left the never ending victimhood mentality behind and chose to embark on developing a bright future for the next generation. Well done!

The Somali region is a success story, and it will continue to be. Of all the regions in Ethiopia, it used to be the most corrupt one. A while back I paid attention to Somalia region’s politics when Dawit Kebede of Awramba Times persistently prompted the region’s then president. There was one particularly so called journalist, his name that I do not recall now, from the region whose mission in life seemed to promote Ali Abdi.
Especially at the time TPLF influence was winding down, the “cooperation” between the Somali region and Tigray intensified.
But the TPLF politicians knew the Somali region president was the most corrupt, ruthless, and above the law kind of politician. But he was their best friend. Why ? In TPLF’s federalism politics, the region that blindly accepts the TPLF’s domination is the one that understands the spirit of federalism. There is now a new sheriff in the region who thinks differently. He is a politician who is sincere, knowledgeable, and determined. Yes, the Somalia region had a bright future.
I do however have a hard time believing the current Oromo politicians administrating their region as the Somalia region president has done. When it comes to southern Ethiopia politicians, I have a different understanding. They will be compelled to govern their region as he.
