Here is one among the many extremely bad meanings of Gala in Sumerian culture.
Among others, Gala also meant someone with the spirit of Buda, soothsayer (kind of Azamari /Lalibela), serving as male-prostitute, living in the underworld.
The Portuguese brought this term and gave it to Qomiches and told them to use it to demean Oromos.
