Shashamanne: Mana Shashe (Shashe Mana in Amharic)

Post by DefendTheTruth » 05 Aug 2020, 18:23

Interesting, not?

In Amharic we say the owner first and the owned second. We call Shashe Bet (Shashe Mana, just after the original way of saying in Afan Oromo).

In Afan Oromo we say the owned first and then the owner second: Mana Shashe (the Amharic speakers couldn't say the same way and has to reverse it).

So, the name ended being called Shashamane (Shashamana), don't you think?

Let me also add one more example:

Tadesse Bet (Tadesse's house) in Amharic.

If I would say Bet(u) Tadesse, then the meaning will change completely and means here "the house is renovated".

In Afan Oromo it says the house of Tadesse when said "mana Tadesse" (literally, bet Tadesse). "Tadesse mana" wouldn't make any sense in Afan Oromo.

Now the origin of the name Shashamanne must be clear, I think.
