Dear Eripoblikan: Eritrea has a common border with the country of Etiyopiyan Oromo

Oromiyya is not yet a sovereign and independent nation. Oromiyya is, so far, part of Etiyopiya. Therefore, the Oromo are Etiyopiyans, and their country (Etiyopiya) has a common border with Eritrea. That is a fact, unless you are thinking along the TPLF's ethno-nationality line.

Until 2018, Eritrea had a "quarrel" with Etiyopiya (which also included the Oromo). Now, Eritrea does not have any type of "quarrel" with Etiyopiya (including Oromiyya). Eritreans, as neighbors, are free to share our opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of ethnic federalism or ethno-nationalism for Etiyopiyans to consider. We do respect their final choices and decisions. We are not imposing any ideology or political system on Etiyopiyans (including the Oromo).

Dr. Abbiy brought peace to Eritrea, and we are grateful for that. He earned Nobel prize for it. It should end right there. Eritrea has no business in Ethiopian affairs, not only it is the right thing to do, but it is dangerous to Eritrea in the future. Smaller countries like Eritrea need to make peace with every country as much as possible. Let us learn a lesson from the Scandinavian countries. Ethiopia is a big country. It can sort its own problems on its own. Ethiopia is semi democratic country. That is good news, but it is also fragile. Ultra sensitivity to all ethnic stake holders is the key. If war breaks out now, I can tell you, no one will be a clean winner. The West has been committed to keep the country together for over a century. Now, even the West is beginning to doubt the viability of keeping the integrity of Ethiopia. Now, for the most part, it is in Abbiy's hand. TPLF has successfully, divided his ethnic based base. Understandably, he is furious. But, he needs to manage the conflict peacefully and hand Ethiopia in its integrity to the next generation of leadership. The weyanes can not go back to their previous role. But, they have the right peacefully to help any individual or political group within the law allows, meaning, those groups have to be legal and peaceful. Election in September is crazy. The Abbiy government has prolong within reasonable period as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
