A strong political system can’t sustain itself without a corresponding strong institution. No one can deny about the strength of American (democratic) institutions. One of these institutions is the institution that governs how to seize a political power by a means of well stablished and protected election system. With this well-established way of coming to power any party can seize the power and the competing other party (parties) should obey the privilege of those in power to exercise the full power of governing and administer the affairs of the people without any interferences from those who are not in power (a principle of a single boss in the house at a time). You can criticize and you can oppose democratically the policies of those in power but you never will be allowed to sabotage the efforts of those in power or even remove them undemocratically, irrespective of which party you are from.
This doesn’t mean that those in power might have been always right and those out of power might not had right but the strong institution forbids them from interfering with the power of those in charge, which will never allow two bosses to exist in the house at the same time. The ultimate source of power should emanate from a single source, which helps exercise accountability as well.
Our politicians claim that they have been in the game for over 50 years but I doubt if they have a modest understanding of this simple idea that propelled America to a global and probably also eternal greatness. It is not without a reason that every people of this world talk about America’s greatness. This greatness is based on such a strong foundation and that is why it is not easily shakable.
In Ethiopia, in comparison, we don’t give much a weight to building such institutions instead we are permanently asking the question who is in power at the given time and if we don’t agree, seemingly or really, with the policies of those in power then we are bent on the idea of we should revolt and remove those in power at all costs. We can’t wait for the next election time to remove them from power by a democratic means (even after we have ostensibly subscribed to the idea of being governed by democracy).
Ethiopia is, by all standards, a much older and richer in traditional social institutions than America but we failed to build any democratic institution to guarantee about how we should govern our affairs exchange power.
As a consequence, and probably then also not surprisingly, we are permanently in a state of perpetual misery and destitution, who can’t even feed ourselves in the world of much richness and prosperity up to today. We are reaping what we have sowed and there is no one to blame for our state of affairs but our own selves. And even worse yet there seems to be no end in sight of the perpetual vicious cycle.

Re: America is a role model of democratic system in the world, but how many of us understand how this is made possible?
Here once again TPLF is telling it as it is and saying "we are not for developing institutions rather for demanding who is in power, perpetually.".
The party currently in power in Ethiopia was given the mandate to govern with due participation and eventual acceptance of TPLF itself, which lost the bid to remain in power at the end of the long process, including 35 days of uninterrupted meeting of its own central committee, but now claiming the same party has no mandate to rule.
Former PM of Great Britain, Mr. Tony Blair, said once something like "Sometimes the best way of ensuring peace is to be prepared for war if you have to have it" or something very similar to the same effect.
It is time to get ready to finish the unfinished business with this entity and give a peace a chance. Remove the scorpion sucking the nations blood from toe to head, without a delay.
