According to church sources, Yared was in Bahir Dar and was also in the islands of Lake Tana introducing his new Church music. Yared had many followers or students around Bahir Dar and the islands in Lake Tana.
The people in the islands of Lake Tana and Bahir Dar speak Tigrigna and Amharic. They sing in Tigrigna and Amharic.
Though difficult to differentiate between Amhara and Tigrayans, but the presence of Tigrayan culture is evident. Many folks from West Africa have settled around Gojamme and South Gondar, Bantu amharas, which make the majority now.
In general, we need to be fair and protect the legacies of ancient Aksum wherever they are found. Some Guraghes are claiming the islands of Lake Tana. We should defend our history and never allow Guraghes to occupy any of the Islands.
