Yohannes IV was a world leader, far-sighted.
He was not against Islam.
He was married to a muslim woman after converting her to Christianity.
Yohannes IV forced Ethiopian Muslims to convert to Christianity because the muslims were supporting Egypt. Yohannes IV found it strange that Ethiopian Christina and muslims were eating from a different plate, cooked by their own cook.
After converting muslims to christinity, Yohnnes IV made them kings and princes. There was no discrimination to muslims in terms of land acquisition.
Some amhara elites condemn Yohannes IV for siding with British against Tederos. However, Yohannes was trying to overthrow Twederos and it was fine for him to use the British agains Tewedros. This is pure power struggle.
