The Amhara who are Aksumites and are civilized are few in number. Maybe one million - two million. These Amhara are Orthodox Christians and have allegiance to Aksum Tsion. Their relationship with Tigray has been always good, supportive. It is the immigrants from other African countries who have to learn to speak Amharic and act as Amhara that are anti-Tigray because they do not know the history.

The real Amhara are from Menz and Tegulet regions in Shoa. The rest including Gonder and Gojamme are mostly Gudela ( a mix of Amahara with bush negros as happens in parts of Gojamme and Gondar). Shoa and Wello are relatively central andhave less mixing with other tribes except with Oromos/Gallas.
