Lenco Leta's Magnanimity in trying to advice Dr. Abey Ahmed

Post by DefendTheTruth » 09 May 2020, 13:46

We can agree or disagree with the political views of Dr. Abey Ahmed but one thing is undisputed: he managed to join a political party that the likes of Lenco Leta were quick in fleeing to save their own lives and that of their close associates to many western countries and engineered a change from within. After that he overtook the helm of the party leadership and managed to get crowned leader of the country as someone who comes from a peripheral part of the country.

Lenco Leta lived most of the time since he fled the country in Canada and Norway, I think. Many others did the same thing in trying to escape the country and leave the people they claimed to represent to face the show on the ground from those who have been in power all along behind.

What they did was trying to collect money from those abroad in the name of waging a struggle against those in power and lead their lives without any personal efforts to support their respective lives, relatively leisurely, from the tributes.

While he was claiming about waging a struggle against those in power back home later on he also admitted to have been in a close contact all along with the leaders of the party which was ruling the country and maiming some of the young and brighter citizens of the country in general and the people they claimed to defend, in particular.

Dr. Abey Ahmed, on the other hand, decided to stay back and join the party and wage the needed struggle towards a change from within, as has been revealed lately, including risking his own and that of his family's lives.

As a leader of a country he has now put forward his vision for the country and wherein he is trying to lead, published his manifesto in the form of a book and trying hard to work towards that goal and openly invited his political opponents to challange his ideas and win over it, so that at the end the wellbeing of the country and its people may improve.

At the same time he also offered clemency to the likes of Lenco Leta and invited them home back to come home and join in the effort to rebuild the country.

Instead of being grateful and thankful for the offer and good will this man tries now to offer a political advice to those who won over his own long held ideas (obsolete), as someone who has lost after many numbers of decades since he claimed to have started his own struggle.

Where on this earth can someone who has lost aspire to advice those against whom that same someone has lost, indisputably?

Lenco Leta may live in his own world and imagination, but I can guess that Dr. Abey would have not reached to where he is today, had he been someone who would listen to the advice of the losers.

Or does Lenco Leta think Dr. Abey is the same as Bekele Gerba who is readily taking order and run to the public without any question and echo the message and come back few days later and try to distance himself from his own claims of just few days back?

My take is people like Lencho should retire from active politics. There are many young people who are much more able to understand today’s World than Lencho and his colleagues do.
At the time Lencho was a young man, a few hundreds of Ethiopians attend universities. Today, many thousands of Ethiopians do. Lencho and colleagues are ill- equipped to understand today’s generation mind makeup. Yes, as octogenarians they might have experience they might pass to the new generation. But never should they be allowed to dictate Ethiopian’s day-to-day politics. Their political know how is not a match to the current world. They had a choice to update their political thinking, but chose to stick with the old dogma. It is time for them to go , not from the world — I do not want to be misunderstood — from the political scene.
