Nigeria (923768 sq. km) is smaller than Ethiopia (1,104,300 sq km)in size and twice more populated than Ethiopia. Nigeria has 36 federal states and a well functioning federal government.

Ethiopia is a multilingual nation, with around 80 ethnolinguistic groups, the four largest of which are the Oromo, Amhara, Somali and Tigrayans. Most people in the country speak Afroasiatic languages of the Cushitic or Semitic branches. Additionally, Omotic languages are spoken by ethnic minority groups inhabiting the southern regions. Nilo-Saharan languages are also spoken by the nation's Nilotic ethnic minorities. Oromo is the most populous language by native speakers, while Amharic is the most populous by number of total speakers and serves as the working language in the federal government.(Source: wikipedia)

Ethiopia has nine Ethnolinguistic regions- which was arranged with ulterior motive of creating ethnic tension. There is no clear boundary between Oromo and Somali or Amhara of Gojamme and Hammer tribe. Hammer tribe could be part of Gojamme, Ethiopia needs to have 25-30 smaller regions with mixed ethnicity. The ethnic region should be replced with geographical names. Historically Ethiopia is more like a nation state as the people have been living under one government only for millennia.

The following map of Ethiopia is wrong and should changed, adjusted to our historical development beginning around 850 BC.

We should use the following administrative map and form federal states. The regional states should be small and manageable by the local governments. They should not be ethnic based. Mixed ethnic groups should be able to respect and live with one another.

The map was develop by Haile Selassie's government. This is the most fair and practical administrative division of Ethiopia. We should stick to this and form a federal government of about 26 provinces or states.
