So far the highly contagious Corona virus caused COVID-19 has costed at least the lives of over 100,000 globally. The number of infected has risen to over 1.7 millions. Nearly 400,000 have also recovered from those reported had been infected. These figures are at the global scale, but they don't lend themselves to be consistently broken down at the regional and national level in their proportionality.

To show this point let me just take two nation states where the figures have been already tallied by the John Hopkins Univesity &Medicine Resource Center:

The African country of Zambia is reported to have 40 cases of confirmed COVID-19 from which 28 are reported to have recovered while the Middle-East country of Syria is reported to have 25 confirmed cases of the same disease of which 4 are reporte to have recovered while there are already 5 cases of deathes (which is 20% as such). In comparison Zambia has got only 2 cases of deaths so far (about 5% of the total). These figures are taken today, 11.04.2020.

Just taking these two countries and trying to look at the end effect of this new disease there must be something that is underlying (or at least compounding) to cause the death attributed to the COVID-19. If there is some other factor that causes the death (compounding the end-effect) then it is reasonable to suggest that (some) people are not dying from COVID-19 but most likely with COVID-19.

Well, many of the usual ER-Forum participants, who are good at hatching nicks and congesting the forum with all kinds of comments, didn't want to comment on this probably profound question, but here below in the following source you can here it from the horse's mouth.

There should have been a wake-up call long time before the era of COVID-19 but we didn't want to listen and instead just consumed by the ambition of having a slice of the political power cake in one's own country even in the face of all sorts of adverse situations on the ground. This negligence will for sure come back and haunt us be it already during the current era of COVID-19 or well beyond that.

People are dying not because of the COVID-19 pandemic but because of all many other pre-existing pandemic now with the novel virus called Coronavirus instead.

London (CNN)It's said the coronavirus does not discriminate. But anecdotal accounts, research and reports of frontline worker deaths in the UK suggest that assertion could be off the mark.

Please make no mistake here that I am not trying to blame (solely) the host countries of those mentioned in the report but those minorities themselves, who are finding themselves on the receiving end now, should be blamed in the first place in my view.

Why did they fail to address the underlying issues (underlying pandemic and chronic on top of thaat) that led to the prevailing situations? Were they not aware of that all along? If they were already aware of the prevailing and underlying conditions, then what did they undertook to remedy the situation?

Is something not wrong with black-american communities over the last few decades (if not centuries already)? Why do they still lag behind? Why?? It is clear that many people come to America and succeed in achieving the so called American dream from all over the planet but why were those black communities in America failed to realize that opportunities? They can blame others but should also blame themselves in the first place for their precarious situations they are in today. And now we are told that 7 out of 10 of the victims are the black-community.

The minorities in the UK now used by some political commentators should have also been aware of what they were upto when they used the dire resources of their own home countries to gain knowledge and skills in different disciplines but then transfered those knowledge away from the countries helped them gain it and now they ended up to be at the forefront of the global pandemic, whether voluntarily or involuntarily and start the blame game. First they need to blame themselves (I have to say here ourselves, in fact).

I do s till remember reading somewhere in the internet or somewhere else before many years a comment like "there are more Ethiopian Doctors in Philadelphia alone than the whole of Ethiopia" and we didn't feel that this is painful back then, and we didn't feel it is painful when those "doctors" started to interfere in the political discourse in their homeland and influence it from abroad and making lives even worse for those they left behind in addition to exhausting the dire resources of the same needy people.

Now we are exposed and we have to face the consequences of of our own making.

If we didn't yet know to guess the answer of this profound question, probably can give as a hint on how it could be.


To remind ourselves about the circumstances of this report, at the time of compiling the report, the number of infected individuals in the homeland of those victims (about 100 people who lost their precious lives) the number of infected and clinically confirmed case of the virus was not yet 100, from which just three died, unfortunately the lost lives, for no number of lost life is considered minimum.

How many Ethiopians do live in America?

From those who live there how many were infected and confirmed?

What is the fatality case rate of this sample population of the Ethiopian expatriates in the USA?

How much does the rate compare with the global rate, assumed to be around 3 to 4 %?

This must be a key consideration to make a hint of the question under the title of this post.

Understanding the problem helps in looking for the solution of the problem and i don't mind calling it half-empty, if that is how we can understand the problem. Here we are talking about human lives lost, the most precious good that we ever can have.
