Naive Meles Zenawi made the TPLF a pawn in the rivalry between the West and China

After using billions of dollars in Western development aid to undermine his neighbours Eritrea and Somalia and pump up his domestic power, Meles started to believe he is the undisputed strongman of the Horn. It was at his time he came to the dangerous thought of playing the Chinese against the West.
Failing to see that his so-called powerbase is only 6% of the Ethiopian people and that he is challenged by a myriad of all sorts of political groups inside and outside Ethiopia, he made the costly mistake of refusing Western investment in telecom, air transport, power and other utilities. This made the West very angry and made them willing to co-operate with others who wanted to undermine Meles. It is possible that it's the same West who might have played a major role in the death of Meles. After his death, the TPLF started to become a hot potato that they tossed left and right.
I am the opinion that it's a continuation of the West's feeling of betrayal that we see them harassing the current WHO director.
Poor Weyanes, you thought you were America's favourite kid. Please know that America does not have one, at least not a poor begging child in the Third World.
Adios!
