Health Ministry projections seen by POLITICO outline a worst-case scenario for Ethiopia predicting that 28 million people are at risk of contracting the virus. Health officials are now working on the assumption that in a worst-case scenario Ethiopia could already be an incubator for a “super-spreading event” and that the health system will be “overwhelmed in a few weeks.” A shortage of medical oxygen supplies is one major concern.

Whether Thomas H’s ability of understanding written English is the issue or not I cannot tell. First I do not know which ministry of health projected as many as 28 million Ethiopians might be infected by the virus, not die. There are estimates in the worst case scenario between 160 to 224 million Americans might be infected. Of those however between 220, 000 to 1. 7 million might be expected to die. To be infected does not equal of dying. More than 90 percent of those infected will survive the virus.
The politico article is written poorly, most probably by a person who has little knowledge about science. In fact, on the contrary, I admired what Abiy is trying to do. In a country which tribal political lords are abundant, he should worry the impact the virus might have at the political stability of the country. He is doing his best to deny those opportunists the fertile ground opportunism seeks to strive.
If the article is posted to paint Abiy’s administration in bad light it failed. It did the opposite.

Some more details: Among the 28 Million people expected to die,3.5 Million are Eritrean refugees who live in Ethiopia.What that means is almost 50% of the 7 millions Eritreans are going to leave this planet.

Exactly! Experts on this subject say that most of the citizenry in every country will sooner or later get it, but then naturally develop a collective immunity to defend against it. The old of age & people already vulnerable to other diseases & a weak immune system, will unfortunately succumb to it.
