Out of all the provinces in Ethiopia, it was Hamasien Dejazmatch Solomon and his fiefdom of Hamasien, Seraye, and Akele Guzai that was most supportive of Emperor Tewodros and remained loyal, sending him tribute & arms supressing rebellions until his death.

Ras Wolde Mikael was the son of Dejazmatch Solomon of Hamasien, who ruled the Tigrigna speaking Christian districts of Hamasien, Akele Guzay, and Seraye in Medre Bahr (modern day Eritrea) during the era of Tewodros (1855-1868).
