Re: The frontlinje in Eritrea's Corona war.
This month in Eritrea's History.
On March 25 & 26 of 1952, the 1st election for members of the Eritrean Representative Assembly was held. Members were elected by a process of indirect elections, except in Asmara & Massawa, where direct elections were held.

The British Military Administration in Eritrea observed the elections. 68 constituencies- 1 representative to 15,000 were set up based on social, geographical & political considerations. Seats were equally allocated, 34 each for Christians & Muslims.

On 25 March 1903, the Italian Governor of Eritrea, Martini, enacted Gubernatorial Decree No. 178, which established a Residenza; to exercise jurisdiction in the Gash (Mareb) & Setit area over the Nara & Kunama ethnic groups.
On 9 May 1903, the Governor published a further decree (No. 202) delimiting the territory of the new Residency. The relevant paragraph provided: The border first follows the Setit and then goes to the confluence of the Mai Ambessa, with the Mareb.
In March 1889, the first outbreak of cholera occurred in Eritrea imported from the East by pilgrims from Mecca and it went rampant until 1890. In Asmara, the outbreak killed many people.
In 1886 smallpox killed 700 people in Mensa Bet Abrehe, the time is known as the “year of smallpox”. In 1889, a smallpox epidemic & cholera struck down Debarwa & killed many people. In 1919, an off-shoot of the Spanish influenza caused a mild flu epidemic in Eritrea.
In Aug 1876 an Egyptian commander of troops moving inland from Massawa, Eritrea, reported 4 to 6 soldiers were dying everyday from typhus. Allied Sudanes troops, who were stationed near Asmara became infected and claimed the lives of 47 out of 282 Sudanese troops.
The troops moved northward to another base, where they infected Arab soldiers whom the Egyptians hoped as a replacement. Although a special camp was established, 2000 Egyptian, Sudanese and Arab soldiers died.

When will Isayas and his illegal cabinet give up their position and no longer use mafia tactics to terrorise the people of Eritrea? We know they want to get overthrown violently. We can make that happen if Bayto and independent judicial branch is not returned.Zmeselo wrote: ↑28 Mar 2020, 02:33This month in Eritrea's History.

Zemeselo,
You have valid point and good observation. This Pastlast guy is consistently talking about rape, executions and terrorism. Yet he is living in the west. Someone has to do something this sob before he cause any damage to the society he is living among.
I am just saying

Eritrea Opposition Sites Funded and Backed by CIA: Wikileaks
8 Aug 2013

EXPOSED. CIA and Ethiopian Backed Eritrean Opposition Websites
Whistle blower website Wikileaks citing email communications https://search.wikileaks.org/gifiles/?v ... id=5033033 from U.S. intelligence contractor STRATFOR suggests that most of the Eritrean opposition websites are funded and backed by the CIA and the Ethiopian government.
The dramatic revelation https://search.wikileaks.org/gifiles/?v ... id=5033033 comes after it published the five million e-mails dated between July 2004 and late December 2011 from the Texas based “Global Intelligence” company Stratfor.
The emails show Stratfor’s web of informers, pay-off structure, payment laundering techniques and psychological methods.
Besides exposing the devastating portrait of the Eritrean “Opposition”, the release also reveals the inner workings of Stratfor, a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defence Intelligence Agency.
The latest revelation only confirms what the Eritrean government has been trying to warn ever since.
The Eritrean “Oppositions” are usually characterized by divisions along regional, ethnic, religious, and ideological parameters.
Due to their alarming ties with arch-rival Ethiopia (and the alleged but now certain backing from the CIA) they failed big time to garner any tangible support from the Eritrean people.
That creates a situation for them to thrive only in the imaginary world of the Internet trying to stay visible and relevant.
