An Egyptian staff major general died of the novel coronavirus on Sunday after participating in work to prevent the spread of the disease.

The armed forces mourned with deep sorrow the death of Staff Major General Khaled Shaltout.

Egypt has so far registered 294 coronavirus cases, including ten deaths.
