Tegaru have recently started calling Eritreans northern Tegaru, and claim that "northern Tegaru" are ዓሻታት and southern Tegaru ለባማት.
But this begs the question of why there is such a character demarcation between the two groups, why are "ዓሻታት" on the northern and "ለባማት" on the southern side of the Mereb river?

Eritreans also agree with the Tigrés on this in that there is huge character difference between the two groups, Eritreans considering themselves ሕቡናት and considering Tegarus ሕሱራት.

So both Eritreans and Tegarus agree that Eritreans and Tegaru have different psychological make up.
Both agree that they are different, the only disagreement being in the allocation of the ዓሻታት/ለባማት and ሕቡናት/ሕሱራት pairs.

Both groups agree they are different, so the recent campaign of calling Eritreans Tegaru is not a cultural or anthropological or sociological or psychological definition but a political campaign.
