The Demise of Wuqaw

On Mar 21, 1984, the EPLF defeated & routed the Ethiopian/Derg Army Command Wuqaw from Awget; in an attack that began on Mar 19. Awget was Ethiopian Army HDQ of NE Sahel Front. This attack came a month after the failed Operations, on Feb. 22 1984.

The total defeat of Wuqaw Command resulted in huge material & human losses and the surrender of the highest number of Ethiopian soldiers, who were later given amnesty and released in 1986. It was the turning point of the military balance in favor of the EPLF.
