I like to assign below to Memhir Muluwerq to study it???
This is true and sad to see too, the Hamassien gene has been altered by the Seraye Dembians, Hamassien feature changed for good but the Akele Guzay still maintain their origin gene and feature except some from south due to soldiers presented in the region during the war like all Tigray Awrajas today thanks to Issayas.
Axum first settlers are from Tembien Endabaselema 10 priests lead by king Selama of Axum and Axum and Tembine used to look exact identical light skin, straight nose, tall slim but the Dembian Adwa settlers and Menelik left over destroyed Axum beyond recognition due to Axum women married Adwans, Adwa men priority was to marry axum woman now their priority is to marry other Awraja of Tigray than their own specially if they have money. The other Tigray Awrajas were protected their people not to intermarriage with Adwa until woyane second started. But there was cross marriage between border few lords. Axum is the victim of Dembians as Hamassien is victim of Seraye Dembians. In the old era Hamassien and Akele did not marry Seraye, specially Akele Guzay still do not marry Seraye and they have been maintained their own gene. In Tigray Agame, Enderta and Tembien did not marry Adwa but Enderta became just the bed of all kind, specially Amhara and Adwa since King Haileselassie era. Raya still main its own blood until now. The question always bothers me and I could not find logical answer is while Enderta north of Raya deformed by Amharu and Adwa, why Raya close to Amhara maintain its gene until today???
BTW, Shire is the home of everyone from all corners specially, Kunama native people but Sudan, north Tigray, Agame, Axum, tembien, Awulaelo are the main settlers in the wild west of Shire to wolkait and Tsegede regions. Tselemti, Tsegede, Adi Arkay to Metema Yohannes and Sokota to Samre to Hawzen and Gerealta are Tembien province.

Awrus, the typical dance of the Tembienot, is radically different from the mainstream Tigrayan dancing style. Here focus is on couples that enter to the middle of the group and display their agility. The traditional border between Tigray proper and Tembien was the Wer’i river, which is why Tembien was also called “Wer’i Mellash” (‘beyond the Wer’i’). Outsiders tended to call the entire Tigrinya-speaking region “Tigre” (as it was termed in Amharic), after its main province and centre of power, reflecting the strongly interlinked history of the northern provinces and their common language.
Unlike several other Tigrinya-speaking provinces, Tembien was often linked with Tigray proper (Adwa), at times in a dynamic way: during rainy seasons Tembien assumed full autonomy due to the Wer’i river becoming an unpassable border, while during dry seasons it accepted the overlordship of Tigray proper.
There is no strong archaeological evidence for ancient Aksumite presence, but there are manuscript traditions recalling a war expedition of the late Aksumite ruler of Tembien against the Soba Noba, i.e. the ancient Christian kingdom of Alodia in Sudan, a direct neighbour of Ethiopia.
As of the 14th C., the rulers of Tembien bore the title shum tembien, which means ‘the one who is appointed over Tembien’, but later took the meaning ‘prince of Tembien’. During the 17th and 18th C., usually, due to the strong standing of Tembien, the leadership was inherited within the same family. At times, however, the king of kings of Ethiopia also appointed these local rulers, thus underlining his claim of control over governorships, but in fact respecting the local order. In this sense, Tembien formed its own princedom. At times it was highly autonomous, only paying tributes to the ruler of Ethiopia, but not submitted to any other chief.
At times, however, it was included into a larger Tigrayan princedom, with a Tigrayan overlord ruling from Adwa or other centres and encompassing Tembien into his realm. For instance, in the 17th C., Tembien was part of the large governorship of dejjazmach Kiflewahid from Agame, who managed to get close to the ruler of Ethiopia and got the governorship over all provinces of the north, ultimately unifying them in his hands. At times, he even took control of the throne of Ethiopia. After his death, however, Tembien assumed again its local autonomy.
In the 19th C., local oral traditions and documents mention the following rulers of Tembien, with their capital in Melfa, a few kilometres west of Hagere Selam. shum tembien Weldemika'el (Weldecha'al) (Mother from a line of Tembien lords, father Yemanekristos descendant of migrants from the Simien Mts.)
This is the line of Emperor Yohannes IV , whose paternal ancestors were the rulers of Tembien. This—very simplified—genealogy shows that his line could become influential in Tigray because the Tembien rulers had linked themselves through marriage to all the great families of the other Tigrayan provinces and princedoms.
