kunta kunte, no one is against halaba having tv or speaking in their language. you make it as if you became a saviour overnight just by providing 1 hour per month propaganda program. give me a break. btw are you gonna have 85 ethnic tv programs donation is not sustainable it is business and tv stations without business ads can't survive long. business loves standards they hate different platforms for it is costly. business always will support that costs less and reaches a wider audience not that reaches few people and costs more.

Yabello the clueless is swimming in none existence Amhara domination : Every Ethiopian use Amharic on their own Volition, but they learn it because it has became the langue franque of Ethiopia. There are advantages Amharic Or Gezz in some case has none of the other Ethiopan languges have. Its church, its written culture etc. You can't hold that against Amharas unless you are one of those individuals who are crushed with inferiority complex, which obviously you are. You speak and write in English with kind of gusto because English has passed beyond the reaches of your inferiority complex, and accepted it as legitimate worthy of imitating . But if it is Amharic language your metabolism reacts as if it is affected with allergic . No sane Ethiopian thinks as you do -- Every nationality can have their own TV and radio program , and we all will cherish it , but still we all need to have couple of national languages that is going to serve all us so that we are not going to build a Babylon tower. Get a therapy for your deep rooted almost cancerous inferiority complex , because you are really hurting . Poor Yabello get a therapy really, we will contribute if the down under refuse to pay for coverage. We will go the extra mile to save a lost Ethiopian soul.

kunta kunte, OMN is almost dead. without hate and woyane enmity it is nothing. they tried the same tactic on abiy but it backfired and oromos are rejecting the toxic OMN, believe me no media can stand forever with donation money. what i'm saying is not that wild animals like you can't have tv stations of course they can but to sustain it you should back it up with long term business plan. your business plan for tv station is making it ለቅሶ ቤት nothing else but that is not sustainable. how many years are you gonna whine about amhara and menilik 1000? you are free n!gger! you are free! no one is holding you why are you still acting like a slave who is under a yoke? you can open any media in any language so why are you acting like a slave who is just being freed?

If your starving relatives can boast of having the capacity, technology and resources to operate TV stations, so do most tribes in southern Ethiopia many of whom have the actual potential to be richer than your starving kins & cousins.

Remember that when OMN was launched few years ago, motmata ina kift-totawoch/ሞጥማጣና ክፍት-አፍ ጦጣዎች like you smirked that it [OMN] wouldn't last more than few months. Today, OMN has helped create scores of ethnic TV stations which, no doubt, will gather their own momentum, audience base & resources to grow - as well as help others to launch their own TV & radio stations. As the accessibility of digital technology & internet increases, the challenge of launching & operating TV & radio stations will become easier. Already, more than 20 tribes in Ethiopia have internet-based TV & radio stations - in case you have not noticed.

Also, don't forget that many of the tribes in southern & eastern Ethiopia have cultural & demographic links to the neighbouring countries from where TV & radio stations that broadcast in Somali [Somalia, Djibouti, Somaliland, Kenya], Afaan Oromoo [Kenya], Burji [Kenya], Gambelan [South Sudan], Gumuz/Berta languages [Sudan], etc. That means that all these tribes have another source inspiration & potential support base in other countries.

I think the Amhara are the only tribe in Ethiopia who lack base in neigbouring countries. Even Amhara's orthodox cousins (Tigres) have Eritrea from which to get inspiration & base!

kunta kunte, you started your thread by crying and whining remember as if you still are under amhara slavery and just became free? you are free to do whatever you want. don't act like a slave who is under a yoke. open 10 alaba tv, 20 oromo tv, 30 gambella tv. it is all up to you don't act amhara is hindering you or forcing you to use amharic. do live your life without crying and whining about amhara like you are amhara slave. accept yourself as a free man for once and move on.
and to the media monopoly it is not about amhara or amharic. it is about business. business chose to sponsor amharic medias not because they love amharic or because they are amharas it is just because they want to reach a wider audience with little cost. you can break the media monopoly of amharic. you are welcome. that is what a free man try to do in a free country. stop whining and crying about amhara as if amahra is holding you back, instead do it. break the monopoly. healthy competition is always welcome and 98% domination of medias by amharic in a country of over 80 ethnic groups is not healthy. so time to get busy and stop whining.

Don't be sillier than your usual self. Where is a 'leqso' in the newley-opned Alaba TV program/station?? So that you know mr. limut: southern tribes are far more positive than your starving, brooding, mseri/መሰሪ, mikegna/ምቀኛ, tenkolegna/ተንከሎኛ tribe/s from northern Ethiopia.

As to your 'ethnic TV & radio stations can't sustain themselves for long because they lack resources'? .. Well, I would say the same to the neftegna TV+radio stations (both state-owned & private) that broadcast only in Amharic &, by default, are left to dominate like 98% of Ethiopia's current TV & radio audiences in Ethiopia.

What do you think would happen if that media MONOPOLY is seriously challenged & gradually demolished by TV+radio stations that broadcast in ethnic languages? .. few of the immediate effect of that is that: a) federal & kilil governments would be forced to take resources away from neftegna-serving Amharic language TV+radio stations & allocate to ethnic/kilil TV+radio stations, b) as ethnic pride gets more momentum & tribes develop their own critical mass of TV+radio audiences, then, that alone would economically sustain ethnic TV stations.

Yes, there WILL be tens - even hundreds - of radio & TV stations in Ethiopia in the future not withstanding your little nasty dig at 'are we going to open 80 TV/radio stations for all 80 tribes in Ethiopia?' ... Not only will there be many stations catering for most languages in Ethiopia but some tribes will operate multiple TV+radio stations at once. So get used to it .. or move back to your poverty-stricken & starving homeland that looks even more primitive - AND DEPRESSING - when comapared to southern Ethiopia. OK? ..
