One of the talking points last week was Merera Gudina’s unmarried life. Let us use this opportunity to learn about the relationship between marriage and other factors with the well-being or happiness of a nation.
Despite its up and down paths, marriage is considered as one of the pillars of happiness in any society.

Merrara's choice not to marry should not be anybody's talking point. Whether to marry or not is a personal decision, not a societal decision.Our forefathers did live for centuries without marriage. Marriage came to be a way of life after society managed to accumulate private property. It is not his being single that bothers me now; Rather his lack of political consistency after practicing politics four more than four decades is.

C'mon!

But, he is one of those, Dr. Abiy's coming to power freed to pursue freedom & happiness; the fact is, his prime marriage days were sacrificed under EPRDF causing a possible erectile dis-function to say the least. You know what went in Kaliti prison was gruesome; tell us about that "በአዱኛ ፈይሣ" ሞት!

Prof. Merara has said, it wasn't by choice he didn't get married but, the long time duress of EPRDF did it. Not only they held him back in his profession limiting his earning potential but, continue to harass, at his old age, threw him up in the slammer.

You tell me! How can a man have a sexual urge or think of marriage in such circumstances?

It was the community that built him a residential house the first time in his life for waaqa's sake!
