It is an interesting read. I applaud Selam for pasting it. The Selam headline I admit is close to the truth than that of politico. The close relationship with China started immediately after the 2005 election. After peaceful protesters were massacred by hundreds in Addis, Meles’s image as the new African democratic leader , the “honor” the West bestowed on to him, became questionable. Finally, the West started to be critical of the regime’s dictatorial rule. Well, to Meles politics is personal. Soon after, he cultivated good relationship with China. He appointed the former foreign minister, Seyoum, a TPLF cc member, as an ambassador to China. Thereafter a significant number of young, bright Tigreans started to fly to China for higher learning. Is Meles and company believed allying with China guarantees the “ golden race” domination of Ethiopian politics for centuries? That might be debatable.
To Abiy, politics is not personal. Anyone who heard his few speeches when he became prime minister aware he agonizes about Ethiopia being poor, and at the bottom of the world in every important aspect. He seems determined to change the country’s future to the better. He seems determined to create an Ethiopia the future generation will be proud of.
To achieve that goal, he would partner with any country and corporations willing to invest in Ethiopia’s economy. It is not as the politico headline imply that he played the West against China.

i will tell you two story but everywhere u go is the same ... Sudan called America to look for oil some 70 years ago the America where looking and looking they could not find the oil then the Sudanese kicked American and called the Canadian the American told the Canadian jut to look so the Canadian also could not find the oil then the Sudanese government mad as hell and kicked out the Canadian and called the Chinese , the Chinese find the oil and build the pipe line and start exporting everything in just five years. now the America mad as hell and divided the Sudanese in Two place but it doesn't matter the oil rich region still share the oil with the North because the pipe line goes across the Northern Sudan to the port Sudan .. the sad thing is million of people died because the American told the South Sudan they should be break away from the North if they do the oil only belong to them .. religion oppression is side story ... the American media hlep come because of the oil not because the South Sudan oppressed because of their religion ..

now my second story .. 44 years ago Ethiopia called the American to find geothermal energy for the last 44 years the American and the West could not kick start the project and billion of dollar wasted in this project .. few years ago Kenya called the Chinese to kick start their geothermal energy guess what the Kenya are the top geothermal energy produce today... while the American planing around

while am at it let me add one more example there were one African country leader who want to develop his nation after collation in 1965 he went to America to ask for money to build Hydro dam.. the American laugh at him and tell him if he want the money he must show them a customer to buy all the power he is producing .. the African leader could not show them one so the banker told him okay u must sale your power to this American company at set price for next God know 99 years ... the African leader thought okay this Aluminum company might buy our bauxite to make Aluminum so he agree in good faith but the American company to buy the African bauxite saying their bauxite is not good quality .. and importing bauxite out of Africa and buying all the hydro power at dirt cheap price and bankrupted the hydro power and the Africa fail to develop because they never make profit from the investment because all their power sold at cheap to the American company and the profit they make goes to pay the loan they took to build the hydro dam.. they start begging to American to rise the price the American refused to agree humiliated the African leader the African leader start to produce less and less power only then the American agree to rise the price once but they help other to over throw him...

i am just telling u beware what u r buying ..

okay let me add two more similar story in Jamaica everyone have their cow and milk and they where living selling milk but the American come and dump dry milk powered and destroy the Jamaican milk industry

in Ethiopia they dump oil from time to time to destroy the local edible oil industry ...

Here is the Woyane zombie parasite with his vague blabbering, distortion and assumptions as usual. Do you think any sane person understands your illegible chicken scratches? You threw the name America all over the place as though you have been informed by Abiy that he is making a deal solely with the Americans. Even if he does, what made you believe that he would let them do whatever they want?

Given the good business relationship Abiy has with China, he has in fact a strong bargaining power to bring back the West to Ethiopia and have them focus in areas that we want their help the most. Giving away our abundant deposits of resources freely is a thing of the past and Ethiopians shouldn’t be charmed by their mere promises anymore. We should rather be in charge of the management process and gauge our relationship with them toward a genuine win-win situation. I believe that’s what Abiy will be doing.

Think about the founders of Pan-Africanism for example. Most of them were educated in the West and yet they used their knowledge to topple the colonialists. The top African colleges and academics have their roots in Europe or America. Lauret Tsegaye Gabre-Medhin, Prof Tewolde Berhan Gebre Egziabhe and your dead frog would’ve remained anonymous had it not been for the magnificent General Wingate. Without Lycée Guebre-Mariam, there wouldn’t have been Ethiopian Records or Sahle-Work Zewde. So, aside from the bricks and mortars that Woyane thugs can’t spend a night without counting, there are other invaluable advantages that we can get out of the partnership with the West. It is a huge asset and a renewable resource that makes us more grounded and highly competitive .

No Ethoash, South Sudanese fought for their independence for many decades before achieving it. No , the American did not give them their independence. South Sudan have no religion (organized religion) before the American missionary come to South Sudan the same time that Sudan ask the American to take out their oil.. the US evangelicals converted those South Sudanese and telling them the Arab Sudan oppressing their religion and the war started and sweetener of civil war is oil, the US told the South Sudan why would they share their oil with Northern Sudan and the war is on... now i am not saying the North Sudan are angle ... which way u cut it the South Sudan end up sharing their oil with Northern Sudan because the Southern Sudan cant ship their oil without paying the Northern Sudan for access to port.. the question is why kill ten million only to end up sharing the oil..
