An indisputable fact that needs underlining in all this is regardless of these opinions, this train has already left the station. He gave his affirmative vote at EPRDF meeting and ODP has agreed to follow through on that initial vote. Such an opinion at this stage changes nothing on the trajectory for the Prosperty Party and those supporting it's direction.
From what I understand, this interview was also done before the vote. For reasons yet unknown, the interview was held from release. That means it was possibly psyops for weyanes. It could also be he had reservations initially, but they were then resolved before the vote was held, meaning we can expect he will eventually come out and say so. Or he elected to vote to move ahead even with those reservations.
In any way you look at this, it is too late for this to actually change anything now. The merger is complete and all relevant parties have signed on. Any remaining small parties are still faced with the certainty of losing to this structurally superior party or joining it and gaining some seats. Nothing also actually shifts for weyanes. TPLF still has to decide to swallow their pride and accept their new boss and dissolve TPLF, or leave and lose all federal power altogether, then wait for ARENA to join this party and come for what's left in Mekelle.
