There should be international flights to major citie of the world from Mekelle. Foreign Investors and Ethiopians of Tigray origin are finding it unsafe to fly to Addis Ababa or Fi Finne. Stake holder should organise a new private airline flying from Mekelle or Aksum to international and domestic destinations.

North Star Business group has been planning to run an internationa and domestic flights from Mekelle. We hope the business succeeds in doing this. Other private business group could also be running intenational flights from Mekelle or Aksum.

Mekelle is an ideal location for flights to Europe and Middle East or Far East.
Tivkets could be as cheap as US100.00 for a round trip from Mekelle to Dubai, which is much cheaper than a round trip to Addis Ababa , which costs about US$200.00.

Tigrayans should focus on building the economy. International flights from Mekelle should be realized. Industrialisation of Tigray should be carried out. Infrastructure building should be expanded

Ethiopia is unstable and unsafe to invest. Tigray is stable and safe. Thus investors need to fly to Tigray without stop over some where else.

The price to fly to Dubai from Addis Ababa using Ethiopian Airlines is US658.47, which is very expensive. From Mekelle International Airport, it could cost as little as US$150.00 return. This is a big support or business in Amhara and Tigray, where export and import businessess could be easier and cheaper (export of flowers from Gondar, Gojam, Skota, Lalibela areas) and also exportof cattle from Amhara and Tigray regions will be cheaper to Dubai.
Mekelle is close to Middle East, Far East and Europe. It is also close to Amhara regions of Ethiopia and to most of South West Ethiopian town and villages.

Tigray political elites should work on exapnding trade to Europe and Asia by using Mekelle as a centre. Addis Ababa is too expensive and too far from Middle East and Europe. Addis Ababa lacks ancient history which is abundant in Tigray and makes Mekelle more attractive.
