I do not know but Magdi Khalil, Egyptian-American Orthodox, suspects Egyptian mukhabarat's ( secret service ) hands in what is happening in the south. He believes that is how the mukhabarat typically ( burning churches... ) operates internally in Egypt. Magdi accuses the Egyptian government for not dealing seriously and friendly with Ethiopia and taking instead the wrong path of threats and racist arrogance towards Ethiopians and their physical appearance. Magdi thinks the racist attitude which is characterised by looking down at blacks is prevalent in Egypt and the Arab world in general. According to Magdi there is no military option because it has been tried and failed in the past as Egypt with the help of foreign mercenaries attempted to control the source of the Nile in Ethiopia.
