Latest figures from the Immigration Directorate reveal that 208 individuals requested international protection in Luxembourg in October 2019.
Compared to the previous year, October 2019's figures mark 30 fewer requests. The majority of asylum seekers are from Eritrea and Syria.
The figures also revealed the total of individuals who were accorded refugee status this year, which is 570 so far.
At the same time, 144 individuals had to return to their country of origin due to their procedure ending. 99 individuals returned willingly, but the remaining 45 had to be forced to return. A further 301 individuals had to return to the EU countries in which they first requested asylum, in accordance with the Dublin regulations. 78 asylum seekers returned to Germany, alongside 72 to France, and 61 to Italy.
