Dear sir/Madam

It is very obvious that social media like Facebook has drastically changed the way we communicate and interact with each other. It is undeniable fact that it has played a lot in promoting democracy, helping the voiceless to be heard by higher authority in efficient and effective way in addressing different social affairs of the community and etc.

In the other hand due to the lack effective Social Media Governance this tool is being exploited by ill fated people like Mr. Jawar_Mohammed (https://www.facebook.com/Jawarmdin very wrong and dangerous way that affects the livelihood of our people. As you are ware in recent time (October 22), this guy has used this social media platform to instigate violence, genocide and ethnic cleansing against innocent people (ethnic). As of now, more than 78 people were killed by his followers in Oromia regions. The killing techniques employed are very horrific one to explain.

Yesterday, he launched fundraising on Facebook with the aim of raising money for the media he runs, OMN. This media is hate preacher among different ethnics. It is also responsible for most of violence happening right now in Ethiopia.

I do know that everyone has the right to express his or her opinion. The limit to which one can express his/her opinion must be defined based on the context/environment the person operates (this is my own opinion). In western anyone may post his own feeling or opinion freely. Most of the viewers of the post/opinion are well educated one who analyzes the information from different angles before taking any action.
In our case, this is totally different. The users are not educated and not capable of analyzing it. This is how people like Mr. Jawar fool and mislead his followers and push and guide them for his own interest (Botmaster). That is why I say context/environment matter! The policy you should follow must be context based one. Probably, in west most political opinion is not harmful, however, in our country could cost life of thousand innocent here in Ethiopia specially when it is from people like Mr. Jawar who have hate for other different ethnic outside his own.

I urge FB to stop Mr. Jawar Mohammed from using this platform so as to instigate violence, hate and killing and also stop him from using your platform to to campaign for fundraising for the media he runs, OMN.

Accountable Social Media Governance is a must that works better for every context.

Sincerely,
Facebook is also working on shutting down accounts that incite violence in Ethiopia as many reports are being submitted to them. This is a great news for all peace loving people!)

Now, I hope you understand what Eritrea went through by the media falls narratives in the last two decades.
Crap that people shy away from voicing your opinions until it affects them.
Just be strong, united and steadfast like the courageous and honest Eritreans. You can beat them just like Eritreans did.
