Jawar doesnot hold office, lets elect him as PM that we do the same way you think and criticize him. I donot see his crime as he didnot call people to get killed. How come you donot even get a little logic, just because you hate him means we donot kill or jail him. Bring direct evidence if he kills them.

Ok after Jawar which one need to be killed? Ezekel Gabissa, Bekele Gerba, Shimalese Abdissa, finally You etc, the list will not be enough. How about we stop killing each other and let anyone speak his mind? Killing never helped dergu and it wont help ESAT (the dergu soldiers who bacame journalist) too.

This is off base. I am, like most of you, eagerly waiting for action to be taken against Jawar not only for what he did but what he continues to do. I am still of the belief that this is pending because what separates him from all the other trouble makers of other regions is he has the ability to splinter ODP from within. Senior people like Oromo Police commissioner are on his side giving cover to those activities. So Dr. Abiy's side needs to build contingency plans for the fallout before they make a move on him.

It is also my belief that they can't just arrest him first then investigate and charge. They have to have sufficient evidence before arresting him, so he can be charged immediately based on that evidence and use it to cool heads among Oromos. You also want as many of his minions behind bars before he goes in so you don't create a scenario where he can still give out orders from behind bars to cause chaos.

So given all those considerations I am being patient. But if action is truly not coming then we are lost. It is also a pipe dream to expect the UN to intervene in that situation, they did not do so in worse conflict zones and they won't do so here.

The best strategy for the moment in my opinion is to pay attention to and archive as much of what he's saying to followers. The sooner we can share calls to attack any area the better we can prepare those on the receiving end. We also need to urge moderate Oromos to come out and distance themselves from this man before it's too late and we all lose.

Opmerc,

At this very moment, signaling a notice to international bodies such as the UN may sound a far-tetched idea to many people because we Ethiopians have now been habituated to the realities of killing in 100s, slow burning ethnic cleansing and internal displacements in millions. But the trajectory of events are the best indicators of what will follow. In a nation of 115-120 million people and close to 50% of living under the possible danger of mass terror and massacre the world needs to take notice early enough because the world already knows the fragility of the Ethiopian tribal system. Ethiopia is one huge time bomb that could explode on the face of everybody any day; if the present trajectory continues on the same.

The eventual UN intervention is one of the actually possible facts of tomorrow's Ethiopia. This possible fact does not have to happen, but it can and will happen unless …… !

Horus,

There is a disconnect between what ought to happen and what will happen. There is plenty of evidence that they won't step in to temper the problem even if it ramps up considerably. They would only do so when the problem is affecting western countries by way of mass migration. I base this on all the ongoing conflicts right now that they are not touching. Of such ignored places include Nigeria, Mali, Libya, Iraq (over 40 people were shot dead in a day by the government just a few days ago).. the list goes on and on. A slow simmering conflict that takes 50-100 people every so often in a country where the army and state institutions are all intact is not something that will go past their strongly worded letters.

But more importantly, from a dignity and sovereignty standpoint, I don't think we need to think about these organizations to solve this issue. I'm not even comfortable with these demonstrations outside the US state department, even if I agree with the message. We ought to find the solution ourselves. The answer is simple, the government needs to apply the rule of law on everyone hell bent on destroying the country. If and when it makes it abundantly clear that they won't or can't, we can organize around any other party that will take on that mission from an inclusive, all Ethiopian agenda and help them get to power.

We are not like our hopelessly dysfunctional neighbors. We don't need international patronage to function. We have set on a path to democracy and when that path finds itself road-blocked, we shouldn't abandon that journey or ask someone else to drive us, we simply get those obstacles off the road then continue, however many of them there are.

I didn't say we were free of problems. But we are vastly better than Somalia, which barely exists on paper much less in practice, or South-Sudan, which has an ongoing civil war that has yet to end. The Sudan is vastly more indebted than Ethiopia but is also on the US Terrorism List so it has no interested parties in helping fix it's economy or debt. Eritrea is also few economic sparks away from Syria or Sudan.

If you want similar ethnic turmoil like ours you can see Mali and the Congo, both countries have ethnic groups going back and forth butchering each other in [deleted]-for-tat fashion. In the meantime, both of these countries economies and resources are actively being raped by the French.

I'm not saying these things to diminish the scale of our problems, only to put in context that international organizations only step in when western interests are affected, not because we have problems.

Jawar appointed himself as second government chief, along with Abiy. This is typical practice of terrorists all over the world. He called wild savage Oromo youths that carry machetes and other weapons and caused the killing of over 80 innocents and wounded over 300, damaged properities. Jawar needs to be executed in public.
