Re: Ethiopian regions must be split into 18 provinces
First sort out your own miserable life before opening your empty skull about a complex issue such federal structure.
Re: Ethiopian regions must be split into 18 provinces
Ethwar,
the problem is not how u divide the state but which language they should speak .. for example u said Golden must join the donkey that is fine but what language should the two speak? how about the oromo and other what language they should speak if u tell us this all the problem will be solved...

did ur rule apply on Amhara region too... did Amhara also learn two language ?
by the way American experience to choice English was a mistake ... just imagine had the American kept all their native language .. and learn English as second language... the good example for us Canada i think Canada got independent the same time with America but they kept French language heritage and they enjoying English as wall it doesnt harm them keeping their heritage.. now America lean from their mistake they try to keep the immigrant language and culture alive ....

Re: Ethiopian regions must be split into 18 provinces
Language is not the main issue. The issue is garanting equal rights to all.
I think it is OK to use Amharic and Oromo as working languages besides English. No need for Tgrigna and Somali to working languages. We need to use The Geez or Ethiopic alphabet for Oromo language. We should to find the golden middle. We cannot allow evey language in Ethiopia to be working language. Tigrigna does not qualify to be aworking language. So is the same with Somali language.
We should focus to sincerely practice treating all with equal rights. It should be accepted to sing in Oromo or Somalior Tigrigna any where in the world. We xhould not actively block or stop the cultural aspect of ethic groups.

how u granting equal right if u restricting only two language .. to me this is defeated idea.. how in hell u tell the Golden not to speak their own language who in hell u going to stop them would u wage war ? or u kindly asking them to switch to Amharic... if they say yes, that is fine but if they say no what the hell r u going to do .. 10000000000% u will not answer this but u will keep saying we need two language.. talk to yourself u dismissing the Somalian too.. u must be a joke ..this is half cook idea is what the Amhara or so called unionist have ...EthioRedSea wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 13:20Language is not the main issue. Re: Ethiopian regions must be split into 18 provinces
There is no golden, because they are traitors and parasites. Do not ever call these traitors golden.
The Golden landlocked Ethiopia and are thus by definition the traitors. They are anti-Ethiopia.
Equality of economic development in all regions. I support Abiy Ahmed in his position that he plans to create large cities as big as Addis Ababa or bigger ( "we need such 4-5 largege centres as Addis", he said once). The problem with Abiy Ahmed is, he is in bad company.
Amharic, Oromo and English are nough as working languages. Tigrigna and Amharic are related so that it is easy for Tigrigna speakers to use Amharic. Somali and Oromo might be related and it is easy for Somali to see themselves as equal by learning Oromo or Amharic.
Equality is a legal concept. It is like destroying apartheid but allowing the White man's language to be used in schools in South Africa or Kenya.
We can also use also only English if that is better.

yes, Tigrigna and Amharic are related so that it is easy for Tigrigna speakers to use Amharic. Somali and Oromo might be related and it is easy for Somali to see themselves as equal by learning Oromo or Amharic.
but the problem is if the Tigray said no we dont lean Amharic we dont use Amharic what would u do to them that is my question.. the same question to Somalia if they say sorry we use our own language what would u do would u send army?to force them learn the working language that is my question ..i thought it is very simple question

Here you go again talking about the same topic using your static hypothetical logic.Ethoash wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 12:29Ethwar,

A while back, I heard and watched a simple and visible economic trendline misinterpreted and I said to myself this is a time when illiteracy defined a presidency. Just yesterday, when I incidentally heard a simple word misinterpreted, I asked myself if this is also a time when illiteracy defined a premiership. Later on, I incidentally read somebody else also question the meaning of the misused word and I said quietly ask the organization that produced it or the Ivy League school student who supported it.
I don't know you personally and I have no idea who you might be as an individual person. However, I have engaged you multiple times on this forum and I have found you to be shallow in logical reasoning and a failure in accepting a simple logic or logical reasoning even if I am positive that you understand the difference between anthem and item. I have found you to be beholden to your faults even after reading convincing logical reasoning to the contrary. Don't be a character for illiteracy defining a debate. Logic and logical reasoning should not take the backseat for Ethiopia in particular and Africa in general to rise. I have no reason to believe that you want others to say what you want to be said and heard. So, I take you at your own words; it is not personal.
Taking you at your own words, you appear to think that you or anybody else is in a position to dictate "which language they should speak." You are not in a position to dictate that and it shouldn't be a responsible government's position to dictate that. A responsible and logical question to ask, at least at this stage in Ethiopia's politics, is what language are they speaking in each and every Ethiopian family's home as we speak. You don't show us a solid assessment of that status quo as a starting point. Nobody is or should be in a position to deny them that privilege. The government's job should be about having a governing structure to reach every family's home in an efficient way possible for governing and only government duties.
The government's bond with each and every tax-paying citizen or family starts when it receives that tax money. Every taxpayer should have the right to use a language of his choice wherever and whenever he walks into a government's office, including the President and the Prime Minister's offices. It is the tax collector government's duty and responsibility to have or get an interpreter in its office for any Ethiopian citizen who is unable to speak other Ethiopian languages. The government, and more importantly, civic institutions can be in a position to encourage learning various languages in order to thrive in a country of many languages. A citizen, from Borana to Barentu, from Gambella to Garamuldhata, from Chilalo to Ras Dashen, should be in a position to pursue learning multiple languages or refuse to do so if he or she says I have enough coffee beans or green leaves to take care of me and pay government taxes.
Here in the U.S. private companies and institutions ask in their official job application forms how many languages a job applicant can speak. I presume that speaking multiple languages is an incentive from private companies for a job application to be successful. There are State Government Motor Vehicle Department's here in the U.S. that have written driving tests in various languages, including Amharic. Generally, people take that kind of test only once in their lifetime. It goes to show you the problem of speaking or giving service in another language is not as chronic of a problem as you might think and jump high pomping language as a problem whenever more important government duties are discussed. The fraction of time anybody needs to use a language that is different from the language that he or she usually speaks is very small. Practically, it can not even be a big factor in finding the most efficient governing structure in the same country. Take two governing structures, for example, and you will know that you will be unable to, for example, take Wallaga to Hararghe, or vice versa. Imagine in what a better position the latter would have been if he over the years focused more on building his village, his state, and his country, Ethiopia.
Then again, when you have the mindset wherein the old dogma of destabilizing the country that exists in order to form smaller countries out of it, it may not be easy to erase that old dogma out of your faculty in order to make the country that exists function well enough. It is an unwitting disposition of that old dogma.

Re: Ethiopian regions must be split into 18 provinces
We should nt allow Ethiopia to be divided into 18 provinces because the Oromo people will bethe loosers. History has given them a large territory called Oromia and it does not make sense to split the Oromo into more smaller regions. The Somali should also keep their large region. Afar has also a alrger region than Tigray.
I think we need to continue with the current division of the country. Oromos will benefit as they have the larges region in Ethiopia and can develop their culture better.

Re: Ethiopian regions must be split into 18 provinces
you dont disappoint for Tuna,
you assumed that we have one government we dont we have 3 government one fed. government, second state government and municipality
at fed. government Amharic work as default but any language will be entertained
at state government level Afan oromia, Afan Golden afan Somalia etc will be default and all other language will be entertained
at municipality level the locality language will be default and other language will be entertained.
now we can also make state government language and Amharic as default at state level
at municipality level the state and the locality language will be default
in this arrangement only Amhara should learn a second language and their local and state government should demand even make it requirement for any Amhara to work in fed. government to speak two language this would be long term goal..
now this way we will bringing the language out of the family house to the government level .... this way we will respect each other for example if the fed. government open office in oromia the fed. government must ask the employee to speak Afan oromia because this is the people u serve .. in addition to Amhric the fed. government working language should be Afan oromia as default but Amharic will be at second level..
now if the fed. government open office in Somalia then the fed. government working language will be Afan Somalia and Amhric the workers must speak the two language or willing to take language course for next 6 month there is no excuse not to learn the local language
now the problem is when the fed. government open office in Amhara region .... just like the American private company the fed. government must give priority to those who speak two language .. Agaw, afan oromia, qmant, and so on.. the Amhara must choice a second language and all fed. employee must learn the second language
let me repeat if the fed. or state government open office in Agaw area then the second choice of language must be those who speak Agaw.. why u do this because u want to respect people culture and language and must be a living language not a dead language... not only at home but people must be serviced in the language of their choice...
saying all this i not saying this is the only way out.. but if the people choice your method then that would be the away to go .. but every solution must be depended on the people...so let us do the vote on the language.... even so we tried your method and we fail .. even so we started war and win the war to bringing the new ethnic fed. state .. if u feel your outdated method is goooooooooooooooooooooooooood then who am to say no .. let do voting and let people decided for once .. have a nice life...
no wonder i call u sale out.. people like u r the reason why the oromo are in this predicament... i dont think u r an oromo u must be an Eritrea .. i dont even think u r an amhara .. no amhara is dump like u who tell me let 40 million people use their language at home... so idiot .. no Amhara will tell u in your face like this they will be smart about it.. so u must be an Eritrean .. only an Eritrean manage this level of stupidity who think knowledge measured by how many English word u know .. what a waste what a people .... i still have a great respect for u as person .. i am only attacking your idea.. i feel like this is not come from Ato Tuna that i know ... it is toooo low even for you
